33-year-old Debbie Maddox (Martha Howe-Douglas) is becoming increasingly bored with life as a suburban stay-at-home mum. Then one day an elf (voice of Mathew Baynton) appears from a portal in her cupboard insisting that she's the 'Chosen One' destined to save Yonderland, a magical land threatened by the evil Negatus (Simon Farnaby). Reluctantly, Debbie agrees to meet with the Elders of the realm... only to discover that they've lost the scroll that explains what the Chosen One is actually supposed to do. Yonderland, it turns out, is a very silly place indeed, and it will take all Debbie's resources to complete each week's quest in time to pick up the children from school.
One of those very rare kids shows that it entertaining for adults too ( so is horrible histories too, same team )

"both supremely silly and very clever indeed – the sort of frothy concoction that looks effortless but is actually very hard to get right... the writing is a wonderful mix of knowing and daft"

"joyously amusing... the clichés are magnificently well handled or hidden by some top gags and a cast who know just how to deliver them."

"It’s basically Labyrinth meets Monty Python. Yes, it’s THAT good. Though it’s essentially aimed at the kiddies, like all the best muppet-y stories, there are jokes for the adults, too."[

, "simply by virtue of being a genuinely funny comedy that the whole family can watch together... There's something for everyone in the Horrible Histories team's madcap fantasy-ribbing recipe of puppets, inventive characters, more puppets, and cheeky humour.

So great was Yonderland’s appeal that this show, about a bored Brummie housewife who finds a portal to another world in her kitchen, has been hailed as reviving family entertainment. Not that the gang are convinced by the label.
“I do find it frustrating that people bother to put the word ‘family’ in front of it because it’s just a comedy,” says Baynton. “At some point, and I don’t know when it happened, maybe the 1990s, which are to blame for many things, it became like, if something is just a comedy then it’s adult and sweary and edgy. But if you’re not that then you’re a kids’ comedy or a family comedy.”
Rickard interrupts. “I get it, because we did Horrible Histories and then we did a show that was on at 6pm at night and had puppets in it and was very colourful and bright… What was nice was that once people started watching it, they saw that it was just a comedy.”
Season 1 is out in varios forms, Season 2 started last night.

Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!

Very light humor. I would probably enjoy it more if the elf/gnome protagonist puppet wasn't so goddamn creepy.

The second series for a family show really does go quite close to the edge. I still can't believe they got away with that flag

So I burned through both seasons in a few days. It seems like they wrapped everything up with a bow on top, and yet, teasingly left it open for another season. So, what's the word? Are they done for good with this, or can we expect a Season 3?
Why do British shows have to be so damned short (both in episode length as well as total number of episodes)?
Negatus was my favorite character by a long shot. GET IN!
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
i9-9900k, MSI MPG-Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon, 32GB DDR4 @ 3000, eVGA GTX 1080 DT, Samsung 970 EVO Plus nVME 1TB
they need to do 52 episodes a year. 8 is too damn short.
i still adore that flag

Is it family friendly (as in no nudity and stuff)? Don't mind mild profanity.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
Very family friendly. Jokes for adults and kids, especially the second series

Just done with episode 1. It's quite refreshing to see. Something new & different. Will continue.
(however, I hope there isn't much of the slapper(?) lady..the one in above video)
