So its time to give my old 2500k a rest.

What i need (my work is based in agisoft and 3d mapping so i need alot of RAM) is a machine with at least 64gb of RAM for now.

I thinking getting this :

ASUS STRIX X99

Intel Core i7-6800K

G.Skill Ripjaws V Red (16x4)

Asus Dual GTX1060

be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3

Corsair Carbide Series 600C

XFX ProSeries 750W

LG 34UM68

Need 1 or 2 SSD, and i already have 3x WD RED 3TB.

Its gonna be my gaming setup too (BF1 mainly).

I gonna buy everything from amazon (es, de, uk, it, whatever it is cheaper)

Any advice or changes for this setup?

Thank you guys.

Wink

Your budget is way too low if you have to include X99 platform, ultrawide screen and solid GPU in it.

IMHO get rid of that overpriced board and go for a 80-90€ one from a popular brand.
Same for the PSU: Get a quality 500-550W instead for ~80€.

I don't have any specific models, as i would have to do the research myself first too. Sad
I can only give some brands. Mainboard: ASRock, Asus
PSU: Seasonic, beQuiet

But from my past experiences and researches those price ranges for those parts are sufficient for most people needs.

As a guideline i often first look for the parts at a big german online shop: http://www.mindfactory.de/
And there i mainly look at the reviews to see if and how many people report failures or other problems.

EVGA, SeaSonic for example. Check JonyGuru's and TechPowerUp's reviews.

Why would you want 2011? i7-6700K should save you quite a lot. (edit: well 64GB is memory limit and if 128GB would be must, then x99 would be only option)

Like so, didn't check if that bundle gives you a discount.

I hate when people say these things. "Yet another useless 5-10% faster new Intel CPU, won't upgrade my 20y old CPU!"

I had 2500k before and no way would I go back to 4core anymore. Even in BF4 it was quite the difference between 2500K overclocked and my current 8 thread 4770k stock.

It's not just the megahertz, those 5-10% generation boosts do add up, not to mention the miles faster memory bandwidth you get, that also helps. Basically my 2500k was 100% all 4 cores most the time in BF4 and 4770k is at leisurely 50% usage.

Yep, that was my point, X99 -> Z170 and saved money takes care of this

BF1 performance shall be quite different. That software CPU usage is another thing. I know no game even comes close to using my 8 threads, but encoding a video for example is 8x100% usage. Doubt you shall miss those extra 4 thread from 6800k though, if you are currently using it with 2500k and shall gain double the threads with 6700k.

The problem is that i really need 64gb now, and in the near future more then that (128gb).

The RAM in z170 platform is 64gb max?

some agisoft benchmarks.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/1057

(the software is very core and thread eater)

Regarding the bf1 with a 1060 should be enough for a 2560 x 1080 no?

any recommendation for the MB?

Yep 64GB max, so X99 it is then, as extra threads come to use as well. 1060 should be fine on that resolution as I got 60fps+ on ultra with my 970 on FHD and 1060 is like 980.

Since i never played any BF with settings above medium (fps over image quality), that good news!

Thank you for the tips.

I suppose you dont care about it or want to be able to add another gpu, but 850W seems a bit much.

Anyway, nice setup!

Seems a bit all over the place with quality and out of whack for the money you are willing to spend.

To clarify: High end: CPU, Ram, a 500gb SSD, High wattage PSU (which you don't seem to need) and then you end up having a 1060 Scratch Head Seems to me if you alter here or there you could easily couple it with a 1070.

Also can't you get it elsewhere cheaper because to me it seems like you are overpaying for most of the items.

Edit: Ah, wurk PC. Well my own fault for just reading the last post of yours xD

For the money i think is not a bad setup, maybe the gtx1060 is a little above the rest but this is gonna be mainly a working station for my daily work (agisoft software) and a little here and there for gaming (bf1 90% of the time).
I'm always open for changing anything in the setup above.

Anyway i found a 1070 Gainward and Palit for less then 425€. How is the building quality? ok?

I dont think your system will ever be consuming over +-450W even at max OC. 650W should be enough imo. Unless you plan for dual gpus.

Those GameRock/JetStreams are pretty much best (quietest) 1070 out there, but I think that 425€ is this one:

https://www.amazon.it/Palit-GTX1070-Dual-Scheda-Grafica/dp/B01IPVIIAY/

It's dual slot, those others are 2.5 slots. Haven't found any review of them, but should be better than any blower type. They probably don't have idle fan off feature, but you have to check if there are user reviews somewhere.

edit: here's user reviews of the thing, seems ok.

If you check ebay, then for one CPU (sure you can go double, as they cost around 100 USD pair) and mobo it would be around 150 EUR Smile Add some 64GB RAM for 100 EUR more

Some NZXT case and corsair PSU some 150 EUR

2xSSD Crucial MX 250gb or smth = 200 EUR

1070 - 500 EUR

= 1100 EUR, and you have budget for mega gsync monitor as well Smile)))))

@whited Those Xeons are year OLDER than his current 2500k Very Happy Yes they be cheap now, considering they were over 1000$ when new. But they will be beat by current i7s.

http://ark.intel.com/products/52585/Intel-Core-i7-990X-Processor-Extreme-Edition-12M-Cache-3_46-GHz-6_40-GTs-Intel-QPI

This one is year newer, much faster clocked than those Xeons and it's beaten by 4790k in the OP agisoft benchmark. So they don't really make sense anymore.

Dual X5650 Passmark - 11728 non OC, and more if oc, they OC to 4GHZ easy Smile = 100 eur

i7 6800k Passmark - 13681 non OC = 400 eur

then mobo price as well some hundred eur difference in favor of x5650

sure few generation behind, but performance +- same and some 400-450 eur saved

but still there are people who dont buy used cpus, so its fine as well
