|
 |
I issued an update from iOS 9.3.5 on my iPhone 6s to the new iOS 10.0.1 via iTunes 12.5 on Windows 10.
It put my phone into recovery mode where an iTunes logo appears and an instruction to connect the cable.
iTunes stopped with an error message, that an error occured and the update could not be installed.
That's fine with me. If the update cannot be installed, then I'll try it again later - at least so I thought.
Only problem is apparently iTunes didn't tell my iPhone there was a problem and it's still in Recovery Mode.
I would really like to get it to boot normally now, so I can use my phone.
How the fuck do I do that without Data loss?
I read one possibility and that is to "restore" the phone, but that wipes it all clean. I will DEFINETELY NOT use that option.
I'd rather buy a new phone (Samsung Galaxy S7) than restore this iPhone to factory settings, losing ALL my pictures and videos and settings and rebuild it how it was before, nah-aahh.

When you went to install the update, did you not backup your iphone first? If you did, you can just wipe it clean and then restore all the pics, etc from the backup.

Edit: Don't worry regarding your whatsapp history, I can send you all images you sent me ... find . -name "alis_fist.jpg"

This happened on my colleague's 6, when updating to 9.3.5, stuck in recovery, no matter what.
I just updated my 6s to 10 last night, but I always do it OTA, not via iTunes.

wasnt it the ota updates which bricked all the phones and forced a recovery via itunes? which basicly is fucked up when you dont have a current backup?

ah cmon bullshit, i have kinda large hands and still prefer smaller devices. 4" would be perfect. not too big, not too small, very handy, much usability and not a concrete block in my pocket
but i think i belong to a dying breed which uses their phones for what they are ment to be -> communication and not playing dumb games or watching movies on it

Pretty much why I'm still on my Moto G, anything bigger than that I have no use for. People keep bragging about 1 1440p screen and all I can think is "...who fucking cares...it's on a phone...".
I think the One Plus mini is suppsed to be around 4" as well.

Ok, something weird is happening now. Made a 2min video, after recording is done, my phone suddenly shuts down. Started it back again, requires the code, unlock it, then shuts down again.
And it keeps doing this, iOS 10.
wtf?!
EDIT: asshole started again and works, after plugging it to power source. I had more than 40% battery anyway, why would it behave like this?
Silly apple.

I've lost the trust on it after it acted so moody today. A stable OS was the only thing that made me buy an iPhone, but if it keeps acting up, I will go back to Android.
