Under The Waves (August 29th)

Quote:
Under the Waves is a narrative-driven adventure game about the engulfing power of grief. Set in the depths of the North Sea in a techno-futuristic 1970s, professional diver Stan is struggling to overcome a life-changing loss and embrace a new future. The isolation of the deep sea is a fitting manifestation of his state of mind, and as Stan retreads further into his self-imposed solitude, he starts to experience strange events far beneath the waves. Stuck between life and death, Stan will have to make the most significant choice of his existence.

I remember seeing this cool looking game when it was announced at Summer Games Fest and it’s been on my radar ever since. It’s not developed by Quantic Dreams but it is published by them which I think says a lot. Anyway I played an hour and it’s a surprisingly enjoyable indie experience so far.

Haha it’s not a game for everyone but its definitely a story game. It reminds me a lot of Subnautica. From what I’ve played it has a crafting system and you can collect resources. Doesn’t seem like a game with any combat though. Plus as it’s an indie game its got a budget price probably a relatively short playtime. See if I can get through it in time for the release of Starfield Very Happy

Just finished it. It was alright, but confused. Bit tropy and stuff is left unexplained, as always. Guess magic exists in the world of walking sim type games. It got a bit gameplay to it, but no combat.

Damn that didn’t take long but short game as expected I guess.
What was the total play time?

It's way longer than regular walking sims due to having a map, a overworld (the sea) and a lot of collectibles (relatively). Must have clocked about 8-10 hours

very nice little game, a narrative type walking simulator but longer and with some gameplay. def need more games like this, i like how u can hop on ur submarine and go wherever u want, and when u go up there is a nice feeling. it also has some of the best looking waves ive seen in a game.

sure the game could have been trimmed a bit but overall i liked it, great voice acting and score
