Didn't think I'd go back to MSI for the motherboard route again, but the ditched 'killer lan' has me going for this setup:

MSI Z170A GAMING XPOWER TITANIUM

Core i7-6700K

Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4 3000 (White)

2 x Samsung 950 PRO 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 (board has support for two of these babies)

Samsung 1.0TB 850 EVO SSD

GTX 1080 & suitable waterblock. A White or silver backplate would be nice also Smile

Logitech G900 Mouse (just out and getting rave reviews)

No mechanical drives this time. Speed over storage space.

Silver/white tubing for the cooling system.

Thoughts?

I almost had the same setup in my newegg cart last week except for the RAM!!! It looks pretty sweet. Plus my next CPU will be probably from siliconlottery and delided.

Looks good man!!!

Will you be using same case?

Yeah buddy. Love my NXZT case Smile I see no need to change it, plus, it saves me from ripping out the RAD etc, lol, which is a complete PITA Very Happy

RAM, I'm unsure about? But that LPX stuff is just so damn cheap ATM, and will clock just as well as the Ripjaw V's probably Wink

that's how it usually goes. you either have time to game, but peasant hardware, or no time, but monies for hardware.

If in the North American market I really suggest going EVGA for not only GPU but also motherboard. They may not have the absolute best mobo's out for the money compared to Asus or MSI, but you'll have a much better warranty.

Also, it really doesn't cost that much more these days to go X99 instead. Get X99 and a 5820k. Then when broadwell-e comes out you can upgrade if you choose to since any decent X99 board will be compatible. It's also pretty nice to have all the memory bandwidth quad-channel offers without even trying w/ the memory clock rates.

Of course for gaming it really won't matter much. I just think it's worth thinking about since X-99 will have that option if you ever want to do more then gaming.

Goods should arrive here Thursday, well, except for the 1080, which is on back order. I wont wait on it though, as I have my original parts nearly sold. Just have to drain system again when it arrives. That is the one downside of watercooling, PITA. Very Happy Razz

All arrived. Motherboard is cool, but power delivery is a pain in the ass with wiring. Gotta make sure you have long cables and a PSU that will supply the board correctly.

8 + 4 pin at top left, 6 pin above 1st PCIe, and the 24 pin usual.

Twice I had to rip out board to get the cables bent correctly, but this was made more awkward with the watercooling loop. Its best to do this beforehand if your running tubing of any kind.

Some pics, but taken with my shitty phone, so not the best to show off this rather nice board.

The goods - CPU was OEM, so no fancy box Razz

Yeah, heard about that. I should be fine though, as I have a 140 blowing over GPU area also, used mainly for helping the VRM's on card. NZXT case has another slot for one of these if necessary. These pair of fans can be angled any which way, although I've only ever seen the need for one, but that may change?, lol Very Happy

1080 arrived and thank god I watercool, as it gives me the chance to see what nasty, sloppy work hides beneath the surface.

Nice back plate, but its coming off:

Hmm, yup:

I think a whole tube of thermal must have been put on there, as most of it has been compressed to the sides:

All cleaned up:

Ready for block:

Block in place:

Well, its running, lol:
