Dive into a deep story of corruption, crime and intrigue. Take the role of gritty Police Chief Jack Boyd, and come face to face with the ugly underbelly of Freeburg, a city spiraling the drain. Will Jack reach his retirement with a nice stack of bills, or will he end up broken ... or worse?
Manage your staff, respond to emergencies, and investigate crimes in a city on the brink of chaos. The mafia underworld maneuvers behind the scenes, sinking their claws ever deeper into the city, even as the mayor is ready to exploit every situation to his political advantage.
Choose your approach to each situation as it unfolds. Sometimes you’ll be responding to a developing crisis at a crime scene, or negotiating with Freeburg’s crime bosses. Sometimes you’ll find yourself dodging questions in the press room, or even the occasional cross-examination in the witness box. Can you keep this pressure cooker from exploding, at least for long enough to stash away a nice retirement nest egg?
Quote:
- Your mission is clear: make $500,000 in 180 days, before Jack Boyd reaches retirement. How? That’s up to you!
- Decisions, decisions! This Is the Police is all about a dark story and how you react to it. Whatever you decide, your choices will influence the game – and the fate of Jack Boyd.
- The Good, the Bad, and... the Ugly? The Chief of Freeburg's Police Department deals with all kind of people. It is up to you to find the bad guys, and decide how to deal with them.
- Carry out your duties. As head of Freeburg PD, Jack deals with all sorts of challenges every day: responding to emergencies, managing his officers, defending the department against City Hall and a corrupt mayor, and much more.
- Solve Investigations and gather evidence against the criminal gangs of Freeburg.
- Deal with the competing powers of the city. Everyone offers you favors, and each one comes at a price.
- Rich and fully voiced story: Jack Boyd is portrayed by Jon St. John, the voice of Duke Nukem.

The reason for the delayed release was a mistake by us here at EuroVideo. When releasing a game on Steam, you have to hit a button in Steamworks saying "ready for final approval from Steam". Steam then proceeds to check the game, and makes sure it complies with their quality standards. Usually this approval process takes 2-5 business days, and you can not release the game without passing it.
We were responsible to hit that button and unfortunately we missed this window, as we realized it yesterday, i.e. too late for a July 28 release. We made a mistake and feel very sorry about it. Weappy has nothing to do with this - it was just a personal mistake on our side.
Again: We are really sorry about that.
TL;DR: We (EuroVideo) made an unfortunate mistake which pushed the release to August 2 2016, please do not blame the developers for it.

surprised to see this after all this crap that hit the steam

The quality assurance is probably done by the same guys that are responsible for end user support.
I backed this and got alpha key and the game updated today with 1,3GB patch. It says it is review build on the corner of the main menu. So i guess the backers can play it early, unless review build is not final.
Pretty repetitive gameplay and it's so fucking unforgiving. You fail one case/crime and the next day the mayor will remove one slot of detectives/officers and you will fail even more cases because of that

I had such high hopes
Can't you load a save to fix those mistakes then? Just one autosave slot or something?

I'm pretty sure you cant even save.. there is just autosave (it saves every day)
Played for around one hour and it's the same bullshit. Had a bomb scene and lost 3 officers, next day the mayor asked me to remove a slot.
Then i had 5 officers and most crime scenes you need to send 2 officers to win it.. so i had to skip a lot of it..

for fucks sake
It just that kind of game, you'll have to live with small setbacks. You'll probably won't be punished that hard for failing some missions, guess it will only effect you're score or final money a bit.
You can close the game before ending a day i've you're into cheating though.
Game is great though, nice story an it's fun to be a corrupt cop
edit:
the game is pretty linear and there isn't a lot of freedom, kinda kills the game. You'll have to play the devs planned it, or you'll lose.
Spoiler:
in my second playthough I tried playing the good cop, getting not involved with the mafia. Got shot in day 13, game over.
Yeah, the writing and overall structure are interesting (the voice acting also, dat Jon St. John ), even though the game is quite simplistic and eventually on the rinse-and-repeat-y side.
Perhaps it would have been better to have something similar on a larger and more detailed (simulative) scale, but still, it's got charm.
And humour too, this awkward moment happened at the end of my 6th day
Been playing this for two days straight. It does get kind of repeat-ish, but man is the plot a fucking ride! This caught me completely off guard in terms of its addictiveness, just like Papers, Please did!

Just finished it. Man, what a kick in the fucking stomach! Can't remember the last time a game left me feeling so gutted (in a good way).
The genius of this game doesn't lie in the actual game-play itself (lets be honest, it's an oversimplified "management sim" at best), but in the masterful way in which it slowly blurs the line between black and white.
Just as in life, we start out with the best of intentions. Over time however, as our eyes are slowly opened to the way the world works, most of us are forced to deal with a devil or two. Refuse, and the consequences could be dire. Accept, and you may soon lose sight of who you really are (or wanted to become).
This game was fucking deep. Honestly feel bad for yarring it now.
I do hope they add some sort of auto-playlist function for the music in the future though, having to manually select and switch tracks was a major pain in the ass (made all the more painful by how awesomely atmospheric and appropriate the tracks actually were).

There’s a new sheriff in town! Interpret the law as you see fit in This Is the Police 2!
Sequel to the acclaimed This Is the Police comes to PC and consoles later this year
Welcome to Sharpwood, a remote border town in the north. It's a rough, cold place, where inhabitants know their neighbors by name and faithfully keep to their traditions, no matter how barbaric those traditions might be. Smugglers, gangs and screaming populists have made this town their home. Despair grows like a cancer, hand in hand with violence.
Just like the first game, This Is the Police 2 is a mixture of adventure and management genres, and this time it enjoys further unexpected mechanics that will strengthen both the strategic and tactical parts of the game. It won’t be enough just managing the equipment of your policemen and keeping in mind their individual skills. Every challenge requires the player’s direct participation, and the outcomes will depend on every decision you make. Now your subordinates aren’t just some resource; they are living people with their own strengths, weaknesses, fears and prejudices, and you'll have to reckon with all these things in order to survive.
