So today boredom struck, I reinstalled origin and decided to have a blast on BF4.

So I download origin, install BF and this opens battle-log and I jump in for 5 minutes before remembering how much of a cluster-fuck it is and how bad I am.

Never-mind, I go and make a cuppa.

I come back later and I notice a Russian email in my inbox, I ignore it thinking its spam, but then I realise origin is telling me I cant be logged in from two locations so it logs me out, strange.

Long story short, some cunt bucket had logged into my account, changed my name but couldn't change the email (that's what the Russian email was about, you have to verify or revert) So I reverted and managed to change my password and spoke to support.

I'm kinda asking for opinions on how on earth this happened, because im super fucking PARANOID now about my other accounts.

*I don't share accounts
* I frequently run spy-bot and Mbam and various other protections
* I'm not a moron I've been building and fixing comps for ages
*I use long passwords with numbers/letters/caps

seems so weird I install origin today use it for a 5 minute blast on bf4 and suddenly my account is hacked.

any savvy humpers out there know of any glaring issues or know why/how?

You're not the only one with this issue. Spybot (which is btw crap, use HitmanPro instead) and Mbams wont save you from Origin's crappy security. Contact EA support and try to recclaim your account if you cannot access it. If u do turn on two factor authentication.

Ruskies are having fun with Origin accounts and I'm not aware of a single case where they were able to steal an account protected with two factor authentication.

wrong, if the supports does it for them it works fine. you dont need to know much about the original owner to fuck him multiple times, a friend of mine had that issues a year ago.

ended with 3-4 times resetting his account credentials via live chat support cause that russian guy (who obviously sold that account to another person which bought premium to that acc too) claimed it back multiple times via the russian support or whatever. that "game" took a few days until he finally had enough and called the german phone support which in the end froze/flagged that account details that it couldnt be changed by any other foreign support from ea/origin. cause even after the first time they that on the phone "its now set up to not to be changed by anyone via live support" it happened again. and again, so he let them transfer battlefield (with the free premium, support was fine that) to another account iirc so that that russian couldnt prove he bought a legit game (in that case the premium addon) on that acc

ok continued

So I speak with live chat anyway as I'm concerned how this has happened.

We change the password again! then I set up two factor authentication via phone (text).

run all my scans and cleaners.

....this morning i get a text, a EA security code, im baffled. I go into origin and its asking for the phone code. Long story short its now showing russian federation under country again

how on earth can this be possible?

as i said -> live support. underpaid people who dont care (or just russians)

call your local origin support, live support cant help you enough. change you accounts mailadress to some the attacker doesnt know and change you origin name. some combinations with l and | which cant be really seperated with the origin font

BUT take in account there might be something on your pc which doesnt get detected, friend of mine with the problem got even a mail from his provider that some strange things are going on with his connection (right about the time his account got stolen), scanned everything with every tool available, all clean. reinstalled, account got stolen again (but as we figured out it was because of the livesupport shit), but cant be 100% be sure his pc was clean before reinstall, even with everything scanned

I'm wrong because you are saying that social hacking is not hacking?

Try to change your email too. After that change the password one more time and that should definitely be enough.
