I am putting together a PC with old parts. I have the described mobo with an A8 7600 cpu./ 8 gigs DDR3/500w PS/660 GTX 2GB video card.

It will NOT output video. Doesn't matter where I plug the video into it won't show video.
I read that this mobo bios needs to be updated? How the hell can I update the bios when it won't show video??? It says it will use the newer cpu's? Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you

dunno, the a8-7600 is only supported with bios 1602 and newer. most likely older bios flashed on the board -> you need to get a supported cpu to flash the bios

you could try resetting the bios with the jumper and plugging in the monitor in the gtx. MAYBE it may boot up with unsupported cpu error you are still able to update the bios. if not -> you need to get a cheapass athlon to put into that board to upgrade (or visit a local pc shop and ask if they can update it for you for a coffee)

Thank you! That is what I thought. It will probably need and older apu maybe this one? AMD Athlon X4 845K Quad-Core Processor ....not sure if it is compat with mobo though?

the 845k even needs a newer bios than the a8

check the asus support page of that board for cpu support list, cheapest initial supported cpus are AMD Sempron 250 (which isnt available at all anymore) and the AMD Athlon X2 340 for 25 bucks

would go for the x2 340 or is a said: just visit a local shop and ask them if they can do it for you

OK Janz! Thank you so much!! I checked the compat with the one just purchased. $50 CAD with coupon. I pick it up in a couple of days. The PC repair shop close to me is owned by a ripoff artist and I don't trust any of the name brand Canadian shops like Canada computers to update the bios. The small shop wants $50 just to put it on the bench(Dickhead).

When I put the new cpu on and if it doesn't post I will buy another mobo. The build is for a buddy who is willing to give me $500 for it. He has a dual core and can't play a lot of the newer games.

I told him he could get a half decent rig for $500 but he wants me to build it????

Must be the games he wants from me??? Scratch Head
