John Krasinski has landed the coveted role in Amazon’s TV series from Carlton Cuse, based on Tom Clancy’s famed CIA character.
Insiders tell Variety that Krasinski has been Cuse’s top pick for the lead role ever since the project was developed.
Cuse and “Lost” alum Graham Roland are shepherding the Jack Ryan adaptation. Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, Paramount TV and Skydance TV are producing.
The project reunites Krasinski with Bay, who directed the drama “13 Hours,” in which the actor starred earlier this year. Krasinski, whose casting was first reported by Deadline, rose to fame on “The Office.”
The Jack Ryan series landed at Amazon with a series commitment, contrasting from their typical pilot testing method for potential shows. Though the series has not yet been greenlit, Krasinski’s casting will likely expedite the process. No episode order has been determined.

Amazon announced today that it has ordered a 10-episode season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, starring John Krasinski (The Office) as the titular CIA agent.
Here’s the synopsis from Amazon:
Quote:
Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan follows an up-and-coming CIA analyst thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time. [...] The series follows Ryan (Krasinski) as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.

+1
PS Maybe that's the whole point? His face is his best disguise
Its just a promo. I hope they dont date the series that badly. Cause it may not survive even if its good. Pirates will pirate. Liberals wont watch cause war and terror and why isnt jack ryan a transexual womam with blue hair and conservatives wont watch because it makes fun of them...
Either way can work. A boring protagonist(s) can work to bring an interesting villain, and a boring villain can be chased by an interesting protagonist(s). Both have been done rather well. It depends on execution.
