Had a brief moment of not paying attention, was more like a blackout while getting out from the parking lot and another car which was travelling properly, collided with the front quarter of the car I was driving. His car is fine, has a scratch from the front all the way to the back.

The car I was driving at the moment, was a company car and the front bumper is literally snatched, wing is scratched and dented, headlight scratched, wheel is scratch and it seems it has issues with the steering.

Car is fully insured and will be repaired, but I feel so terrible at the moment, knowing me and my care I give to cars, I 'm in my 5th year in this company, driving our cars on a daily basis, not a scratch, but today it happened, for a clumsy 1-2 seconds. Sad

I might have to pay 100euro or so, insurance franchise policy.

Shit happens to everyone. F1 drivers often crash road cars too, don't punish yourself for it. At least no one is hurt...

Yeah, well - happens. As already said - at least no one got hurt.

Such blackouts, lack of concentration might be deadly, not only while driving.
From my last weekend - I went climbing last Saturday. On the second route that day, my buddy tied the knot to his harness and started climbing, 2 meters up - his rope fell down. WTF? Apparently, he didn't tie it well enough (type of a knot that might unfasten if not secured with another one) and I didn't notice.

Later, when I finished a different route and was preparing to rappel which requires untying the rope, pulling through a ring and tying again - I only pulled the rope through one of two loops in the harness. Doublechecking worked, as I've noticed it then. When only one loop is used (esp. bottom), you might get turned upside down which will most likely result in hitting sth with the back of your head.

Yeah it was weird as fuck, because i was looking in the mirror and planned to get out after the last car i saw, which I did, but what I thought to be the last car, actually wasn't and I suddenly noticed it near my window, but it was too late.

First signs of things like Need for Speed and The Crew dumbing you down. Cool Face

Losing focus happens plenty, so just try to prevent it as much as you can and be happy it was just something as silly as this. Smile

Don't blame yourself, you're not a machine and don't have to be at 100% every day of the year. Glad to hear you're fine and that it was a company car.

Started my first ever lease recently. Brand new audi, parking sensors, everything.

I rely on those sensors far too much already.

I think drivers take driving for granted until they hit something.

I know how you feel pal. Three weekends ago, my partner and I were driving down a road about 15mph and we were hit at speed from behind. It's done £6000 worth of damage to my Audi A3 SLine. I'm gutted about it and sore still. It's now given me a bad back to boot ! The driver that hit us was drunk and on drugs and was arrested on the spot. It rattles you in ways you didn't think it could. I'm still waiting for my car to come back from the repair shop but I've already decided I'm going to sell it. Chin up pal Smile

WTF?! Was coming home from work and stopped at a roundabout and some guy just crashed into me from behind - I don't even like it rough! Sad

Broken bumper, tail light and boot seems a bit dented ( doesn't close properly ).

Now I have to wait until next year to fix it, because most shops are busy now and not working full schedule Rage
