Non violent gameplay with biblical overtones? Screw that.
Epsilon: Game is great btw, I love it, so far it's a definite goty. It's remarkable how much has changed since the beta, stardock have been working their asses off, and it shows.

Re(re)-released as Adam's Venture: Origins
(First it was three separate episodes in a earlier UE3 build then they merged them and re-released as Adam's Venture: Chronicles - http://store.steampowered.com/app/362410 - and now it's re-released again remastered in Unity 5)

Hey Gareth thank for the message. I'll try to give you some context to how we've thought about this.
So first of, you had the separate episodes 1-3. These were bundled as Adam's Venture: Chronicles. At that time we decided to credit everyone with the 3 episodes in their library with Chronicles.
Now with Origins it's a full remake of Chronicles. Just a quick list of the changes:
-The game was remade in a new engine (Unity 5). Graphics are much improved as a result of that. The game now uses modern shading and lighting effects and for instance Adam and other characters now have completely new 3D models.
- puzzles we're evaluated and improved (some even removed when they weren't a lot of fun)
- The story was replotted and the script was reworked in places and some new voice acting was also recorded. Basicly, it's now 1 story with all the events in the game as they happened instead of 3 seperate episodes with a lot of callbacks and flashbacks to previous episode.
- Adam now has a grappling hook that is used during puzzles and platforming challenges
Adam's Venture: Origins is the fresh start of the franchise and for that we wanted to make sure that the first tale of Adam was told in the best way possible.
Regarding the mimimum specs, we've listed i7 just to be sure and i5 for instance would work fine. We wanted to er on the side of caution since we've seen too many PC games being released with too generous system requirements resulting in less then ideal circumstances for gamers. We'll be changing the minimum system requirements shortly.

Hey Everyone,
So we've seen some questions pop up about the content of the game, and to what extent this 'remaster' changes things. So for that reason we thought it prudent to list all of that in one place for convenient future reference ; - )
So without further ado, let's dive into why we think that Adam's Venture: Origins is more than your average 'remaster'.
A small journey into the murky mist of time is required since that is where our story begins. Adam's Venture was first released into the world in the form of episodic adventure games, the first of which was released in 2009, which is by now 7 years ago.
Last year we (SOEDESCO) bundled the episodes into Adam's Venture: Chronicles. We also gave it to everyone who owned all the three episodes on Steam.
At that time we had already announced Adam's Venture: Origins, our new start for the franchise. We promised the fulfilment of a vision. That means a puzzle focused adventure game with a focus on brains and wit over violence and guns. We wanted to release a game that was also up to snuff on the technical side of things.
We are working with the original developer Vertigo Games, to make sure that the original tone and artistic vision was respected. In addition to that, Vertigo knows Adam and his story best, and had a good idea of which challenges we would encounter in producing a new Adam's Venture game.
All fine and dandy, but why don't you get down to the nitty gritty details? Let's do that, backing it up with some facts.
Was rebuilt in a totally new engine (Unity 5)
Has a replotted and in places rewritten storyline. From 3 separate episodes to 1 coherent game.
Features a new grappling hook mechanic, used in new puzzles and platform challenges
Has all new graphics, that means new character models, textures, animations, the whole shebang.
In addition to that some smaller changes had to be made due to the new platforms we had at our disposal. For instance some cut-scenes were also replaced with dynamic, player-triggered conversations, which meant we had to write and record new voice-acting.
Just to give you some visual reference here are some images we posted on our Facebook pages:

EDIT: There's a Adams.Venture.Origins-CODEX release available already.

That re-release looks pretty good actually.
How is the game though? Looks like Uncharted/Indiana Jones.

The original UE3 version I played was mostly adventures and puzzles with the occasional firefight, I never played through it fully though, only a small bit of the first episode but the game was in a pretty rough state back then.
(They probably fixed up a lot of issues when they did that first update that merged the three episodes into a separate full game and now they've done the same but in the process also rewriting parts of the story and changing puzzles, less focus on combat too it seems.)
EDIT: Game also had heavy religious themes if I remember it right.

I wasn't sure what the Origins one is but the title Adam's Venture was vaguely familiar. I think I tried that first episode way back when it came out and seemed interesting but really clunky from what I remember.
About to install Origins now and oh my, the music for CODEX's launcher is absolutely amazing!

The first chapter is pretty rough, I think it's entirely new content but there's some pretty ugly scenes once you get to the outside areas and some of the puzzles are pretty poor plus there's a bit of a over-use of the grappling hook early on but it's probably to teach the player how it works since animations are a bit clunky and it's hard to use it precisely without practice.
You can jump and such too and with a bit of effort glitching platforming and other scenes is doable as well such as skipping a climb down a long shaft and just jumping and landing on a little wooden support beam or similar just before you get the game-over message.
Certainly better than the really bad initial version of the game, never played the first update they did for the trilogy (Where they merged the three separate chapters into a single full game.) so I can't compare against that.
Visually Unity 5 offers OK'ish quality though there's not that much you can customize and there's a bit of a over use of specular highlighting as well on certain surfaces, depth of field too in a few cases such as the longer hallways in the initial mansion area.
(Voice acting isn't too great either but eh I don't think they had that large of a budget so it was to be expected.)
EDIT: Probably gets a bit better once you reach the content that was in the previous versions of this series of games though the clunky controls will probably be a bit of a hassle.
(Main character tries to be a bit of a smartass but comes across as more of a arse and he's not all that funny either though it's not the worst adventure game hero I've played as.)
(Sadwick from Whispered World is up there on that list, but he's written to have that personality and be like that so it's understandable even if he's unlikeable and whiny.)
(And then there's Larry Jr. from the two 3D larry games and Lula from Lula 3D but those are pretty extreme.)

Oh boy, yeah, this one's really clunky as well, it's really not much fun playing it feels like a struggle to even control the character. Only really played the intro, but the gameplay is probably pretty simplistic too. The game looks quite nice for the most part, however the performance is pretty awful for me. Oh well, shame, feels like this dev studio doesn't want to let go of this only (?) IP they have, nor do they seem to learn anything from each remake they do, heh.
