Planned features:
+ 3 worlds with area specific unique enemy types and bosses

I'm still undecided on the looks of the background objects in the game and wanted to ask for your opinion. Keep in mind that the planes and most objects in the foreground will be flat shaded.
I'm currently in the Netherlands at my sister, it's my friend who has access to my pc and probably got bored of playing stupid forza horzion on his shitbox
And regarding story: Story requires more artwork, I love doing pixel art but I also know that it takes a lot of time. I'm currently progressing super fast, which I'm very happy about and if I reach a point where I'm happy with the game physics and how I have setup the backend, I might consider adding a story. So far I'll be quite happy if this will provide a frantic, chaotic, yet fun and action packed experience for the gamers
The final game will be DRM free and it'd be still cool if I find enough people that are interested in it... any ideas where I could show this to the people to get some feedback and maybe also customers? I mean, I get it. Pixel graphics turn off a lot of people and not everybody is into this arcade stuff but maybe some people that enjoyed Luftrausers will also enjoy what this will offer above and beyond Luftrausers (not to belittle LR, I bought it too!)
Wow, Pumpy, that is looking absolutely incredible You're doing a great job so far and it's definitely looking to be far superior to Luftrausers... if you're planning on making this a business venture, perhaps contact Perturbator and see about an official soundtrack? Publicity is publicity after all, no?

Yeah, am getting so much compliments for the music ... I wish I was able to come up with something that cool That guy already did the fantastic soundtrack for Hotline Miami & Hotline Miami 2.
It has better gfx than Luftrausers, more detailed, nice. Maybe you should make the AI shoot stuff isntead of trying to ram you? I think it's going to get annoying.
I mean I like the idea of dodging projectiles while firing them (like dogfighting) more than dodging suicidal enemies that are attracted to me like magnets.
Also, would it be a lot of work to have an amphibious plane and change the scene when it dives in the water? So you then fight underwater against submarines, the physics change etc?
Or maybe you can create a "runner" mode where you try to reach the end with enemies trying to stop you, racing against the clock and avoiding obstacles and flak cannons (they would show a targetting circle for a second before the blast so you can avoid)
I have not planned a runner mode, but the actual under water part was planned for some part in the future (this being the "european campaign" with 3 locations, england, moscow and to-be-specified), while I wanted to see if there is any interest that I would also create the pacific campaign with Pearl Harbor, Japan and the high sea/underwater, with subs, slower movement and a storm on the water surface, forcing you to go down into dangerous and dark waters ).
Btw you will only take damage from enemy projectiles, the enemies themselves will not damage you and you can't damage them either. The game is already a bit too close to the action and you are very fast as a player (I wanted to have a faster game than Luftrausers), so dying because of some inevitable crash would've been waay too unfair. There is already too much off screen fighting which I have to counter somehow And I will improve the ai to have even more variety, but this is just one single enemy type.. and in this veeery early releases they are just spawned every 2 seconds, which is WAY more than what will happen in the real game when I'll have much more enemy variation. For the sake of the videos it would've been very boring to have just 2 planes following you for 50 seconds
Put in a city with a landmark for background, like France/Eiffel or Athens/Parthenon. Also, you oculd have dolphins with suicide bombs strapped on them.
Also, maybe underwater you run out of oxygen and you can replenish it by killing subs and going over the resulting bubble.
And no dolphins with bombs on them But I will add futuristic stuff, like emp special ability, a kamikaze attack which will be a shadow dash and a resulting explosion amids enemies, maybe some big ass lazer and similar stuff.
France/Paris as a backdrop was also an idea, but after realizing that there isn't anything memorable apart for the arc de triumph and the eiffel tower I dismissed it quickly, but see, Athens might be nice! It has to be distinct enough to stand out just from it's silhouette
And no sonic oxigen bubble collecting You will be slower underwater and the subs rockets will be deadly enough and I want the dynamics of going up and down as I love vertical gameplay
Yeah, I'm using a 2D game engine called construct 2 and I'm the only person working on it including art and a future to be developed soundtrack aswell

The soundtrack is something where I am hesitant at getting it from a 3rd party, as I was thinking about making it a dynamic one... but this game is still in a very early stage, too much can change

i want primary fire upgrades, faster shooting, doing more damage, bigger or more shells per shot
secondary fire? different kinds of secondary fires, each of them with their own upgrades
maybe bombs for anti-ships?

carry more rockets upgrade

something to spend points on, like the upgrades

some kind of big bomb consumable - maybe not bomb but an allied plane passes on the screen killing everything/doing a lot of dmg
more planes? slower heavily armed planes/faster less armed planes
I don't want to talk about more features at this point, but I think you will mostly be not disappointed with the final game if these are the things you are looking for
