Maldives, Singapore, Bali, Bora Bora, Mauritius, Cappadocia, Santorini, Hayman Island, Québec..
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
I have been looking Thailand as well , does Thailand has great places for shopping ?
If you're looking for shopping/bazaars, maybe Singapore is better? Although it's probably a dent up in costs than Thailand, but you can get cheap tech junk there.

I have only been to Vienna and Salzbourg as cities so far. Vienna is pretty cool and has alot of cultural stuff to offer. Salzburg a little small imo.
But if you like hiking and comfy wellness hotels, I'd suggest a weekly trip through the Alps, which is what I did two years ago in Summer. And that is also the reason why I suggest going to Austria instead of Switzerland. Because you would have the same kind of experience in the Austrian Alps for alot less money than Switzerland.
edit: Italy is great, really good food, good wine, nice weather, nice landscapes etc. I love it. But stay away from the coast and the south. (imo)

Not interested in hiking weather should be good and good places to see

Haha don't worry, it's safe here NFOAC. Just avoid the big cities' suburbs (also, avoid Napoli altogether ) and you're in for a nice ride. Like Couleur said, Firenze, Venezia, Roma are pretty much mandatory, but you can practically go whenever you want and still find interesting locations to visit, including the many small medieval towns scattered everywhere.
April is still a relatively "cold" month, so don't expect to enjoy beach time, unless you visit Sicily (and even there, the sea will still be not-so-friendly). Recently the weather has been absolutely insane, it's March and we're having proper snow in the mountains now for the first time this year xD
This also has the added bonus of, if your pissed off with her by then, push her off the edge. - Hey presto, unmarried! (I'm certain you don't pay extra for that)
Wasted return ticket, I know, but sometimes you gotta cut your losses when the going is good.

Dem scammy Italians, they're naughty I tell you!
But in all seriousness, I'd say that the situation here in central Italy for example is safe, although I'm not a tourist so that perspective is unknown to me.
It's never good to generalize in my opinion, though there are indeed places that I would avoid at the moment, like the extreme south, or the the urban zones away from the "classic sightseeing tours" (you don't miss much if you deviate from those anyway). Another thing to consider is the so-so quality of services, internet and infrastructures which are stuck in the same renaissance era as the cities, we're in Europe but we don't think like Europeans xD
As a general rule: Don't stay in cheap places in Italy.
