In Spacebase DF-9, you'll build a home among the stars for a motley population of humans and aliens as they go about their daily lives. Mine asteroids, discover derelicts, and deal with the tribulations of galactic resettlement in Earth's distant future. Meteor impacts! Explosive decompression! Unbearable loneliness!
Key Features:
Resource management
Carefully plan and build your base using raw matter, mine more from asteroids.
Detailed simulation of oxygen and vacuum
Keep citizens comfy and safe from asphyxiation.
Social simulation
Citizens mingle, forming friendships and enmities that affect morale and base culture.
Duty assignment
Assign citizens to duties they're well suited for, and watch base efficiency and happiness increase as these skills develop.
So, they need more money to finish Broken Age but they have money to make other games? Or, maybe this game is the reason they don't have enough to finish Broken Age.
That being said, it does look interesting. But they aren't getting a dime from me.
So they've decided to make spacebase df9? kinda sad because the humble df prototype project had other good games, like the one where you play the girl and have to climb up the tower & etc.
Reminds me of a cross between Startopia and Theme Hospital, heh, though I think I'll wait until it's fleshed out more. Supposedly it's just simply not finished and feels like it's missing a lot of content.
Yeah I've got the game and there isn't much content atm. Technicians don't seem to work either. If you have damaged equipment it's easier to replace it than wait for the lazy ass techs to repair them.
Only 3-4 rooms can be built and I'm not sure if the power plants work to power the rooms. I don't think they do.
It's a very bare bones demo really. Shouldn't be on Early Access at this stage of development but I'll support Double Fine in whatever they do.
I've had some hilarious moments though. An invader came aboard the base from his docked ship and blew out a wall. At least 4-5 of my people were sucked out into space hehe. So the crew I had left had to deal with the invader. I think I was left with 1 person on station after I had killed him.
It's totally random whether the ships boarding the station are hostile or not. So you could get good people or evil pirate scum.
played it for 5 hours last night, sometimes it plays well, ie citizen AI does what you assign it to, other times its just plain dumb (stay out in space - and I mean *just* outside the base) until the air runs out in their spacesuit and die.. but its early access and its only the *cough*demo*cough* I played.. not much to do in it atm either, build some rooms and people appear, ask if they can join and they come aboard even if you tell them to bugger off LOL - in the base you need more technicians than anything else and be sure to put fire extinguishers thru the base too.
TL;DR - buggy as it should be for an early access game, it shows great promise and I will more than likely buy this at some point
when there is no more room in hell, the D34D will walk the earth

you can lock the doors to stop people coming inside, and you can tell each individual to go into a room of designation. gee...
• Citizens can eat food to satiate their hunger. Food can come from Food Replicators, crops in Garden Zones, or Cooked Meals.
• Citizens become hungry and starve to death if they go too long without eating.
• Food Replicators can be built in any zone, and consume a small amount of Matter when used.
• Citizens assigned to Botanist duty will plant seeds in Hydroponic Cultures, tend the crops that grow, harvest the crops and carry them to Refrigerators in Pub Zones. Botanist skill determines efficacy of upkeep and crop yield.
• Bartenders will take raw food from a Refrigerator and use a Stove to prepare a Cooked Meal, then serve it to customers waiting at tables.
• Diner satisfaction is based on their affinity for the dish and the skill of the cook.
• Killbots will now appear in derelicts and boarding ships. Killbots show no mercy.
• Tooltips now show health and morale, with color-coded icons.
• The Stats tab of the inspector now shows a citizen’s Inventory and any objects that are in a container.
• Many small fixes and improvements to Demolish tool. It should now be possible (if a bit time-consuming) to fully deconstruct a derelict.
• When Matter is expended or gained, the HUD counter value and color change over time.
• Citizens remove their Duty-specific gear when they’re not on duty.
• Objects can now be marked for demolition via a button in the inspector.
• Redesigned Duty tab of citizen inspector. Display now shows their star rating for each duty instead of a number.
• Word bubbles that appear when citizens chat now properly reflects the conversation flow.
• New icons for zones and inspector stats tab.
• Broken objects now spark to indicate the fire risk they pose.
• Bartenders now stand behind their bar while they serve drinks. Citizens walk up to the bar to order a drink.
• Citizens post to Spaceface about drinking. Randomly generated drink examples: Smashy Gargle Blaster, Red Scumm, Sticky Frobnabulator.
• Balance: Duty failure logic changed. Technicians cause fires far less frequently.
• Balance: Duty experience gain rate is now more balanced across the different duties. Citizens who spend time doing something should gain experience and become better at a reasonable rate.
• Balance: Bed condition no longer degrades. Don’t worry, we’ll figure out other, more legitimate ways to make beds catch fire in a future update.
• Balance: Citizen morale is more stable. Fewer things cause it to dip up and down drastically, though lots of citizens dying still makes people (understandably) bummed.
• Balance: New derelicts won’t show up if you haven’t been exploring the ones already out there.
• Balance: Citizens won’t post as much on Spaceface about unmet needs; they’ll only post about their most pressing need.
• Fixed: Various bugs relating to citizens/raiders/monsters fighting in vacuum.
• Fixed: Different portraits now appear in the docking/immigration request dialog.
• Fixed: Spaceface display didn’t show most recent update.
• Fixed: The user is not reimbursed when they lose planned objects during a re-zoning.
• Fixed: < and > no longer let you select enemy / hidden characters.

It's Tim Shafer and DoubleFine, they've always been greedy bastards and the way DoubleFine has consistently overreached themselves over the last few years is an indicator of how it turned out; they simply ran out of money and gave up. Inherent downside to releasing on early access too, as you cannibalise your own sales because most people that were going to buy the game already had.
I agree, early access sucks, never should've been added (or with very, very strict guideless such as refunding all cash if the promised features don't make it).
Oh well, it's not like I paid for the game anyhow .. a friend bought it for me (<3) and I was waiting for "final" to start playing, but I guess that's all there is going to be now. Bugfixing for the next month until 1.0 and then we'll wait the inevitable next round of Kickstarter and Early Access funding.
