So i just bought some hardware, but im not sure if I did the right thing.

Are these any good?

1x Intel Core i7-5820K, Socklet LGA2011-3
1x MSI X99A Raider, Socket-2011-3
2x Crucial DDR 4 2133 MHz 8GB

I did some reading and I *think* I bought some good stuff, but most of you are way better on hardware than I am.

Edit: Not too late to cancel order though. But I thought it was a nice package deal.

i would get faster ram if I were you.

ddr4 at 2133 is going to lower your minimum FPS in CPU limited titles/scenarios.

at least 2666, IMO as intel CPU's love fast ram that allows them to stretch their legs.

also, 16gb ram is a much better choice. sure, you can upgrade later, but 2 sticks is always better than 4, for stability and performance.

especially if you are rocking a 4gb GPU. many games will now use more RAM once VRAM is filled up. rise of tomb raider is a great example. the difference in FPS in VRAM limited scenarios with a 4gb GPU is up to 20 fps when comparing 8gb vs 16gb.

Yeah, but it was a package deal... it says "2x Crucial DDR 4 2133 MHz 8GB " but thats 16gb atleast. But I do agree.

Yep, same thing aplies, just when you go over 6gb, and obviously the FPS drop won't be as drastic due to a wider mem bus, but with 16gb RAM you are covered though.

I still do recommend faster RAM. with ddr4 latencies, 2133 is budget level RAM, which is out of place with the rest of your specs. also 2133 vs 3200 ram, you are talking about a 10fps difference when it comes to minimum FPS in demanding titles. gta v and fallout 4 come to mind.

you might not notice it now while the rig is a beast, but a year or so down the line, those frames could be a difference between smooth and choppy.

get 2600mhz or 2800mhz ram, you are not going to get ram speed issues and still get stable overclocks, after 2800mhz, its pretty hard to get haswell-E stable. Im currently running XMP 2800mhz memory profile with 4700mhz OC on CPU.

Breezer is right, with DDR4 there is actually a noticable difference between 2133 and 2600, it does start to diminish after that but there are still benefits from it. You should always get atleast 2600MHz DDR4.
Unlike DDR3 which sees no difference of any sort lol
