PostPosted: Fri, 22nd Apr 2005 15:34    Post subject: Donations for a friend??
I have a friend in austria that won lambo murcielago on a pricedraw.
He genuinly nice guy that works with children and other charitable things, he's also a english teatcher and doesent make a lot of money, so when he won the car his friends including me all chiped in to pay taxes etc so that he could keep the car and drive it.
Thing is that the breaks overheated recently and the car went up in flames:-( As it turns out his insurance
does not cover fire!!!
I was thinking about starting some kind of paypal donations program to replace the car for him. Thing is, if i ever met a guy that loves lambo's but could never afford one himself i'ts him.
He fucking deservs this car and it's a shame if it would all end like this, and the underpriviliged kids that he works with loves the car to. It kinda gives them something to strive towards (education wise that is) If they work hard they might actually buy one someday, so he usually uses it to teach those kids about cars and taking them for rides and stuff.

Any opinions? do u think it would work if i were to set up a webpage?

is this true?? Razz... No, I dont think people will donate...

I dont think people will beleive it as it sounds fake..

Cars that cost £168,000 are built to a high standard so I would highly Doubt that the Brakes on a £168,000 car would set on fire that easilly and then burn the whole car up Razz... And The car will have a manufacturers warranty so why not complain or even sue lamborghini for putting his life in danger...

If you had a car that costs that much you dont just go for the cheapest insurance that doesnt cover anything, thats silly... In the UK it would be impossible to insure that car and not have it protected for fire..

Personally I dont beleive it but hey maybe someone else will Razz

oo..dont believe a word. What I know about "lambo's" is that here in my country 1 millionare bought a lamborghini and it had minor problems..anywayz factory fault - so they send a guy from the factory to fix that car in here... yea so there are a thing called "company warrenty"....

and again - let's just play with this idea and pretend that it really burned! WHAT kind of moron wouldn't notice that=over heating, BEFORE it was too late? And wtf he did?

and yes - picture would be nice?

How the hell would he overheat the brakes that badly? These cars are made for racing tracks (atleast track days)... Maybe he was braking and accelerating at the same time, for a long time? If he did something like that he doesnt deserve that car.

If the car had somekind of factory defect(i highly doubt that), Lambo will have to give him a new one.

Edit: If u had a car with brakes that overheated and set it on fire (and could have burned you inside), would you ever buy a new one from that brand? I would hate Lambos for the rest of my life...

But maybe (probably) some people would donate money...

On a car like this a breakchange costs a lot of cash!
After the breaks have been changed your supposed to use them carefully or they overheat! Naturally he did not know that and he did not use a authorized dealer for the service so he wont get a replacemnt car either!

The workshop that performed the change cant afford to replace the car either so now they are in limbo!

Thing is, Lamborghini is i no way resposible for this, because had he used a lambo workshop he would have been informed that the breaks can overheat when they are new!

This can also be caused by breakfluid on the breakdisc/callipers!

He lives in Austria, Technicians has concluded that the breaks overheated. What they cant conclude is if the workshop were to blame, so suing when they cant prove anything is not a good idea since the stand a 50/50 chance of loosing and having to pay legal fees and stuff!

And did you get the Brakes idea from here ?? Razz - http://www.wreckedexotics.com/murcielago/murcielago_20040618_006.shtml

"Overheated brakes caused fire that burned this beauty into a crisp. Dealer did not inform owner that the brakes should not be pushed hard during the first few days of ownership. Everything has worked out in the end since owner has gotten a replacement."

He got a replacement....

I find the story hard to believe. Ok, the pictures seems to be taken in austria as only austrian firefighters use steyr trucks. But take a look at the road where this happened. It is a straight flat road as far as you can see, so how can brakes overheat in this kind of situation, there is not much traffic either. I think the cause must have been something else.

WhoKnows check Ollax's pictures, he cut off the "WreckedExotics" logos, why ? You answer that one...

Ollax make up something more realistic and more dramatic... example: His wife got into an accident and she needs heart transplant, but the operation cost too much and he doesn't have money, lallalalala

I know that breaks can overheat if pushed too hard, but as i said, what was there to break for on a straight flat road without traffic, as Griffon said, come up with a better story Razz

Thats a good enough story for scam like you or ur friend (if there is a friend). We all know that most of the donations are bullshit but still... If you make up a story - lets say people donate (maybe), so basicly they want their money to go on the repair of the car, not to some fuck who will spend it on a new PC or something.

Does your friend even exist or the money is going into ur pocket ?

Oh shut the F up, we all "steal" here from "hard" working developers.
Where did you get "hard" from anyways ? It's their job, what's "hard" about that ? jeez.
At least I work, and I buy games when I really like them (ex. KOTOR).
I have the money to buy them, I don't need people to donate to me so I could buy a game...

P.S. Why would I buy a game that sucks ? I download it, if it's ok, i leave it, if its bad, i delete it, if it's super i go and buy it.

So please shut up and go make some stories about ur "friend's" cars, I wanna laugh some more...

P.S.S. "wery" is spelled with a "v" not a "w".
