No, Stronghold, not starforce.

The supposed RELOADED release that popped up yesturday was deemed a fake.

Stronghold 2 is a highly anticipated game. Some group must be working on it.

Anyone have any news or sightings?

I also inserted a template

To the Moderators. I know Protection talk should be in another Forum, but that's all we're interested in at the moment. After all, we can hardly talk about the gameplay, cos' it ain't released yet!

I like to see all these 'Protection talk' posts'. It's a right laugh as various protections are announced and denied. Who'll wager me 3/1 on this is Starforce?

Cause this is downright fuckin retarded. The mods made a protection board in the first place so we didnt have to read 9/10s of the pages that are supposed to be about the game, about the protection instead. And the SF3 talk has been done to death. Theres nothing that you DONT know by now from reading all the posts. And who cares anyway? It will be cracked/cloned when the groups do it.

Anyway, been waiting to play this game. I'm a big fan of the original even though I'm not totally big on RTS's... the first one was a blast to play, especially online. Havent tried Cossacks yet, but I heard its similiar. I've been reading nothing but good things about StrongHold 2. I like how they added a nice editing for the castles. More units and it looks like better control over your troops to. However, I wish the game was out now so we would have something to talk about in terms of features, online, and gameplay ;/

Anyone else here collect the Strong Hold games including War Chest and Crusader? I know Warchest was really a buy of the two games, but had some extra features I believe.

Yes I have them all bar the Stronghold Bonus CD -
Stronghold (c) GATHERING OF DEVELOPERS
Stronghold Crusader (c) Take 2
Stronghold Deluxe (c) FireFly
Stronghold Warchest #1 (c) Gathering
Stronghold Warchest #2 (c) Gathering

Hopefully this game will be an absorbing RTS with a good 3D engine, cool unit animations & addictive gameplay. I like these RTSs where you build up a nice settlement with cool upgrades & then let loose The Dogs of War to Smite Thine Enemies Surprised Deliver Us from the Sin of Cardboardness - aka Armies of Exigo & Settlers HoK - Oh Lord & Plague Those Games with Legions of Flame Spewing Lapdogs of Beezlebub Ya Beeetch Very Happy

I was hoping they would have that campaign from single player. I read in a gamestop preview about where some provinces you trade resources with to build up others and stuff =]

Theres a building called a Carter post, I havnt been able to build one but the description is:

The Carter post allows goods to be exchanged between player's castles. Your village estates will use carter posts to send you goods.

About building descriptions...there doesnt seem to be any info in game on what each building does, and theres TONS of buildings. I would be completely lost in whats going on if it were not for the manual, which that info on Carter posts was taken from. There IS a help system in game, but the only way to access it is if you have already built the building, and then select it.

The multiplayer is single battles as far as I've seen, and its very laggy, to the point where most of the time the games will time out after a few minutes, and sometimes you even time out while in the game lobby waiting to begin. In general multiplayer feels like an afterthought, but I have faith that they will fix it up with some patches, apparently one is already in the works.

Anyways, it is handled by territory, each player starts with a piece of land, and you cannot build outside of it...any nuetral territory can be purchased with gold, but I havnt been able to do this, theres a button but I cant click it, even when I occupy the territory.

This game requires alot of power from your PC, at the beginning I start with 60fps, and it quickly drops as you build more stuff...after I have my castle set up I'm running about 10-15 FPS, and it gets pretty jerky, my basic specs are:

Xp2800+
1gig ram
WinXP
9800pro 128

BTW this game is not alt-tab friendly.

hmm..Game looks not so good an Reveiws from Amazon.com People. Seems to many Bugs in the Game and the 3D Graphics are not so good.

But read for your self:

Written on 20.04.2205

I got this game today after waiting over 2 years for it to be made. My PC is pretty good (1 gig Ram, Athlon 64 3200+ and 128mb 9800 Radeon PRO) - but after your units start to build up there is a serious performance issue - the game stutters and starts to slow down. Obviously the 3D game engine is nice - but not if it's going to affect gameplay so much. The camera angles are almost useless and very finickity - you won't want to waste time playing with them.

I really want to love this game, and it's a sold 3 stars so far - but areas of it seem to suggest that it's lacking polish in certain areas: - the cut scenes with little or no attempt to lip-synch - zoomed in animation of units sliding or 'walking on air' as they clumsily negotiate the environment.

On the plus side - with so many options and the chance to play a peaceful campaign or even just free build - if you love castles then this is your game.

However, I am now waiting for the first patch to be released to see if they iron out these performance/animation issues. We'll see....

** Second Review **

Written on 20.04.2005:

The 3-d does nothing to enhance the game and actually makes gameplay more difficult.
To really see the 3-d effects you must zoom way in, but then you see such a tiny piece of the map you must zoom all the way out. The camera is jumpy and the animations get jittery as you add more units.
This is on a 3Ghz machine with 768 Megs of RAM and Serial ATA RAID drives!

I ran right out and bought this game and played for several hours...it left me wanting to replay the original.
Save your money play the original until this one to goes into the bargin bin.

This game requires a top of the line PC to run at decent speeds when engaged in large battles (which the game was designed around)...even on the lowest graphical settings (looks worse then #1) the performance is pitifull, dropping to 2-5fps during a large battle.
