Wow. Looks like the publishers have reached a new fuckin low. You have to remember however, its all about the MONEY. If your in marketing your JOB is to LIE, no surprise there.

From a marketing standpoint, hiring a 3rd party company to anonymously post positive propoganda about your product is a good idea. And the internet, with its high level of anonimity, serves as the perfect median to do so. The tactic they employed most likely was successful in swaying those undecided, and lead to a few extra sales. Mission accomplished.

From a gamer standpoint, all I have to say is may Babbel and all those employed/affiliated with it ROT IN FUCKING HELL.
Props go out to the guy that discovered the fiasco. Now lets lynch those motherfuckers Razz

*Edit*
Also, Babel's site apparently posts this somewhere in there:
"Online marketing can take a variety of forms, depending on the type of product being promoted. As multilingual experts, we employ a team of native 'guerrillas' to infiltrate forums and message boards in selected territories"

I could care less about Driv3r or any other games they hype, its the principle of the matter. Although, I guess one isn't too bright if he makes his decision on the opinion of some guy from a forum.
Still....I don't like the way things are turning.....
*End Edit*

I read a website about FPS, wich recently reported that :

Quote:
Gamedaily take Ubisoft's money, and spit out an article about R6:Black Arrow with their their automatic preview generator. Quote : "Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow is going to take tactical gaming to another level, and we can't wait to play it once it releases".

I liked the idea of an automatic previw generator. It feels like it's exactly what is probably hapenning in every big video game site.

yea this isnt really new.. the gaming and movie industry has been doing this for years.. if you check out IMDB's forums.. theres ALWAYS a few lamers whos hailing (read promoting) movies for whatever reason.. usually such "employees" are paid in return for free movie tickets, merchandise etc. some even promote on irc networks... its sad.

Seriously, are you surprised?

Do you also buy the "THE BEST GAME OF THE YEAR" because it's written on the boxes of games in the store?

... geez

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.
