Quote:
Nordic Games announces plans for Dungeon Lords MMXII, a re-master of Dungeon Lords being developed in collaboration with D.W. Bradley's Heuristic Park, developers of the original edition of this RPG. "I'm delighted to be working with Nordic on the new re-master of Dungeon Lords MMXII, it's a rare opportunity for an author. Dungeon Lords is pure and true RPG, there are no mindless quests to kill 20 of these and find 12 of those, at least not without giving you a very good reason for it," says Bradley. "The story is full of plot twists and turns, players must stay alert and use their wits to solve the puzzles, and monsters don't like intruders. The new magic and action system makes the game sizzle with fun, and I'm excited to be pumping it up and bringing this epic RPG experience to a new generation of gamers." The game does not yet carry a release date, but we do have this feature list:

Co-op story mode for up to 8 players and full single-player game experience
50-70 hours
Completely reworked intuitive Graphic User Interface
New Multiplayer Features
Dual Switchable Interface Modes (supports Hot-Key action play and Point&Click play)
Updated full hardware Screen Resolution support (16:10, 16:9, 1920x1080 etc.)
New quick-start Hero character creation system
All new Magic system including new Magic Spells
New Hero Classes, new and improved Class Skills, and new unique Class action abilities
New Character Advancement and Level Up with auto-learn Magic system
All new Quest and Log System
New Mini Map and Full Map Screens
Full World and Character Re-mastering for enhanced gameplay experience
New dynamic Treasure & Equipment generation, featuring Uncommon, Rare & Epic items
New Inventory and Loot Bag System
Improved Graphic & Visual Enhancements
Newly Re-Mastered Audio sounds and speech

I remember playing the original and also remember it was crap Smile but the graphics were fantastic at its time Very Happy

Cool, I played the original one about a year or two ago... well, I tried to play it. I found the game really interesting, but the execution was really poor. Glad to see something like this. There was also a sequel in the works. It's been delayed a lot for the past few years. Can't remember it's name... are there any news about that?

Yeah, that was it... a shame then, it seemed like quite an interesting game. Sad

I remember being excited about the earlier version, even went as far as planning a multiplayer session with a friend for this game. Then it finally came and it sucked, what a letdown. Definitely not having a whole lot of faith in this one.

the first one was bad when it first came out. i could only take it for a few hours in single player befor ei shift+del it. one night a couple years later a few of us were sitting around bored, trying to think of an rpg we could all play (that we hadnt already played). i ended up grabbing the updated/patched/somewhat fixed 'collectors edition' out of desperation. we tried it on my lan (3 of us) and had so much fun together that we scheduled a 'game night' every week and played through the whole game. in coop, with your friends all in the same room passing the weed and booze around and all that, this game is honestly one of the funnest gaming memories i have. looking forward to the new version (though a little apprehensive) quite a lot right now.

Sweet, count me in! The first game had oodles of potential.. but it was just ruined by crappy execution on initial release, later patches fixed a lot of the suck and it become one of my favourite hack'n'slash'em'ups.

Great, now I won't know what to play anymore. I hope they made this the game that it should have been. There was so much potential in it, but the execution was really bad.

Started the game and began as as a fighter as usual, this is pretty much Dungeon Lords (2005) with a few updates, they've added some "toon" shader as well to mask the aging visuals, overall it's not too bad but it does use a pretty hardcore set of rules so there's a lot of spawning enemies and other mechanics to take into account.

EDIT: And with \shaders\altered.
( CEL_shader.fx_ , IP_Cartoon.fx_ and TOON_shader.fx_ - I renamed the file extension if it's not clear.)

(Just renaming toon_shader.fx didn't do it, unsure which one you can keep and which can be renamed if you prefer to disable this.)

I bought the collectors edition of this for 30 bucks that I had thought solved a lot of the problems of the original release... i guess they're releasing yet ANOTHER version and expecting people to pay for it again.
