OMG I just saw the trailer and it looks like Halo x UT2004.

Quote:
Instead [of modern shooter tropes] you get fast and precise movement (with deeply configurable mouse controls), double jumps, dodge jumps, booster pick-ups, nine iconic weapons to be carried around simultaneously, secondary fire modes for every weapon, vehicular game modes, jump pads, health-packs, lots of vertical gameplay, optional mutators (incl. instagib) and everything else that made these kind of games so addictive. And if you want to practice your skills offline, Toxikk also features a configurable BOT MODE.

It's made by Reakktor, Germany, who made Neocron and Black Prophecy (which broke their neck) for example. Thing is, they went bankrupt iirc. Not sure what to think.

But surely looks intriguing Very Happy

1% of Halo and 99% copy UT 2004.

What a coincidence that this game appeared right afer UT2014 started to gather speed.
(hint: it i s not a coincedence)

It's not...

"We believe that "classic Arena-FPS" and "Free-to-Play" (F2P) don't go well together. A true arena FPS requires all player characters to have equal stats and the availability of all weapons to everyone. Always! The skill of a player should be the only deciding factor about victory or defeat. Allowing players to buy different (i.e. better) weapons or to permanently boost their stats does totally contradict the idea of classic arena FPS gaming in our opinion."

Did you miss the giant red "not" free2play in the trailer? Very Happy

Why shouldn't classic arena FPS go well together with F2P? They don't have to offer better guns for cash, just let people buy skins and other esthetic stuff, that doesn't have any effects on the gameplay. It seems to work fine in LoL.

Looks ... like a second rate ut2k4. Would still buy it and fap to it every night, of course, but the design is way too generic.

Imho, if you're going to go build an unrealistic shooter, then you HAVE to go all the way - like the Unreal universe. Like the Ripper in UT. Great for sniping heads with direct skillshots, or area denial.

Go all the fucking way. Which this doesn't do.

Also, since Nexuiz was mentioned, I was a very early beta tester, and in contact (virtually) with devs. The greatest annoyance was the input delay and floaty aiming. They admitted, they just couldn't fix it, after I had written to them countless times. They promised they would eventually fix it, they never did.

Also, not defending F2P, but take note of CS:GO. It has a VERY active marketplace. And for what? Weapon skills. Lol. Some people pay upward of 250 euroes for a skin for a single weapon.

Then I kill them with a standard pistol, take their shiny gun, and then kill them with it in the next round. Lolz.

Yep, I was in the beta too, what a disappointment it turned out to be..
I think the floaty mouse issue was Cryengine-related, many of the titles powered by that engine suffer from some kind of sluggishness/unresponsiveness which isn't too game-breaking, but gets annoying when there's such a fast pace and need of accuracy.

Seen a few forum posts in regards to why no reloading has anything to do with skill based arena shooting. Can't imagine, how people can ask such an idiotic question, tbh.

No reloading is one of my fav things about arena shooters, no artificial ceiling, that limits how many enemies you can massacre in one go. It's brilliant, and the only way shooter should be made Very Happy

Rare but another occasion I completely agree with Radicalus Smile Reloading is fine for tactical shooters, but it imposes arbitrary restrictions on twitch'n'skill-based arena shooters.

This, no need for reload in such a game.

Looks pretty nice, but then ROTT looked great on paper for arena shooting but MP is pretty much dead Sad

Ill buy it just for this. NC my all time fav MMO (before the clusterfuck that was the DOY expansion).
If nothing else my way of giving reakktor my nod of support for the years of NC fun. Even if its sucks, I owe them a charitable donation..lol

Has a very quake 3/UT fast paced vibe to me..I miss shooters like that.
