In 1971, Carolyn and Roger Parren move their family into a dilapidated Rhode Island farm house and soon strange things start happening around it with escalating nightmarish terror. In desperation, Carolyn contacts the noted paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, to examine the house. What the Warrens discover is a whole area steeped in a satanic haunting that is now targeting the Parren family wherever they go. To stop this evil, the Warrens will have to call upon all their skills and spiritual strength to defeat this spectral menace at its source that threatens to destroy everyone involved.
My brother saw this the other day at the cinema and said it was awesome.
Its meant to be proper freaky/scary! The IMDB reviews speak for themselves
There are some R6 releases available but quality doesnt appear to be great and they have hard encoded Chinese subtitles.
yeah I'm reall looking forward to this too, it got an 7.9 rating on IMDB right now, which is pretty amazing for a modern horror movie. I even talked my gf into coming with me even though she is a total wuss when it comes to horror movies, which will make it so much more fun I think I'll check it out in the cinema on saturday (I hope I can find one where there are few to none other people to enhance the scariness )
@ixigia don't listen to hfric, be strong and wait or catch it in a cinema Horror movies usually benefit a LOT from image quality and even a lot more from sound quality. Ambient or white noise would totally ruin any calm scenes.

I am going to wait for at least 720p webrip or bluray rip which might be a while yet :/

That's the spirit!
yeah I know it's hard to wait, it feels like good rips are taking longer and longer to come out. It gets so bad that sometimes I totally forget about a movie I really wanted to see and am only reminded by the mention on a release site
However, every time I watch something below an hd webrip or bluray rip I hate myself a little and can't fully enjoy it.

yeah those shots are kind of misleading, it looks super blocky and muddy on my 52" and there is a constant high pitched buzzing sound apparently. just skipped into it to take these two:
Spoiler:
view in full size to see actual quality if you got the image nfohump image resizing plugin
am i crazy or do our shots look exactly alike in terms of sharpness/colors?
If I didn't put the numbers there I would have no way of knowing which is which...
I tried AQOS, FOOKAS and UNIQUE Versions (xvid and x264), all look the same and have the audio problem + The R6 IS the Webrip, R6 is just the Region from where the Webrip originates, it has nothing to do with the actual source or quality...
I couldn't find the 720p one though, maybe that ones better...
“When we sent it [to MPAA], they gave us the R-rating. When we asked them why, they basically said, ‘It’s just so scary. [There are] no specific scenes or tone you could take out to get it PG-13.’”
Thanks for your Review Yondaime, I'm pretty much like you, I think 98% of "scary" movies in the last decade are pure trash. I've still liked a very few ones like for instance The Orphanage. I'm gonna give this one a try
Also, the main reason people dislike Blair Witch Project is because of the skaky camera
I watched it some time ago and quite enjoyed it too (I rated it 7/10 if my memory doesn't fail me), not innovative by any means but surely above our typical abysmal hollywoodian horror movie thanks to the competent direction and acting.
The only problem I had is that demonic possessions don't have any impact on me, so I found the whole concept riddled by silliness which kinda ruined the supposedly terrifying atmosphere. But still, I appreciated the effort!
the moment when tape starts to play again with those ghost voices and the clock stops at 3:07, guess what happened, i looked at the clock and it was 3:07, of course watches didn't stop, still creepy as hell
