Trolling or deluded, pick one
I'd keep the RAMz, upgrade to a 6600/6600K and a 390/970
But since you're an ultra-rich kurwa might as well as go for quad-sli 980ti / tri-fire fury x and a 6700K or whatever CPU is on top nowadays

That's what I hear, but I can no longer tell whether people are trolling or not |
Look at it an easier way. If the cpu cores are not maxed out and game around 20-80% then just upgrade the gfx card.
Not many games get my cpu high and thats a lowly amd bf can get it to 75-80% but not consistently that high. If you got the money upgrade the cpu anyhow I would say Otherwise if money is an issue why bother if you can game at locked 60fps in all games you play.

I would upgrade the whole thing, only problem being that you would have to toss out those 16 gigs as well on account of DDR4.
A GPU-only upgrade is a viable option as well. Against a 6950 any modern GPU will give you a massive boost all on its own. You can always upgrade the CPU later if you feel that you are not getting the most out of it.

Well I saw a Radeon 390 for 280€ on black friday sales. But if they are at the same price I'd prefer the GTX 970.

If your looking at the value for money aspect of this then you only need to upgrade your graphics card like others in this thread has already told you.
I upgraded myself this past week but that was partly because i wanted one of those new nvme ssds and i needed a newer motherboard for that. And also i'm a giant nerd when it comes to PCs and wanted to build a new one.
If you don't really care about that stuff just upgrade your graphics card and keep the old stuff. Sandybridge is still good enough.
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black | ASUS Crosshair VIII Dark Hero | 32 GB Trident Z 3600Mhz | Gigabyte Aorus PCIe4 1TB SSD | Corsair MP510 1TB SSD |ASUS RTX 3080 Ti TUF | Fractal Design Define 7 | Seasonic 850W Platinum

If he upgrades to a 6600 that puts him into Skylake. Skylake uses a DDR4 controller. Skylake can run DDR3 but has to be an a specific motherboard that'll use it.
I think I read something about the pins being the same so you COULD run DDR3 in a normal skylake board but you have to under-volt it or it'll damage something.
