The Settlers series is one of my favorite series because it ticks quite a few boxes few other games tick, or don't tick all at once:
- a relatively slow relaxing pace
- good planning is rewarded
- it's tactical enough to give depth
- it's deep enough to keep you playing
Every game can be completely different depending on how your organize your buildings so I never really tire it. It's a game I play when I'm stressed - it's nice and relaxing, with the tweeting birds, the sound of wood getting chopped or stone being picked.
It's also one of the very first boxed PC games I bought back in 1994 for my 386SX. Even the first version is highly playable. I still find Settlers II 10th Anniversary the best version, though. Modern interface & fast graphics and it's the core game at its best. Later games tried to add too much and the first game missed some of the nicer additions of Settlers II.
So, what's the deal with not allowing other countries to see trailers? This is the second one I can't view.

Yes I know there are easy ways around region blocking, but this kinda shit should be a non-issue. Hell, the "feature" shouldn't even exist. Don't want people to see your shit? Don't upload shit to the internet in the first place. Fucking cunts.

Settlers 4+ aren't even settler games anymore to me. The difficulty in the first ones, was to connect buildings in a way, that goods could be transported properly etc. That part was totally removed and it just became another "build buildings anywhere without a care until you win"

Why is the first one not playable? It's a bit dated but considering its age, it's still very playable if you ask me.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the The Settlers series, all 7 games will be available as The History Collection. It will include History Editions of all seven previous Settlers games, which includes gold versions of each game with all expansions, game improvements, and optimization for modern PC systems. All seven games will also be available separately as History Editions.
