So this time last year I moved into a new house and the day after did the Leeds 'Abbey Dash'. A 10k run for charity.
The day after was back to work and was in fucking agony, couldn't stand straight, was walking like I shit myself. Took ages to get anywhere near back to normal and since then the muscles in my left are cheek and lower back have just felt really tight.
Went to NHS physio after waiting a month for physio. Had about 5 sessions every 4 weeks and started feeling mildly better, but still not right. Went to a private physio about 3 months ago, very well known one £60 an hour. Thought that would solve it. Helpedal more but still not 100%.
Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago. Back starts getting worse by the day. Like 15/10 pain but OK when I sit and lay down. Gets so bad I go to A&E they say sciatica go to doc for booking MRI.
Go to doctor (8/10 milf BTW definitely would have) she says classic sciatica, I need an MRI. Waiting list is 5 weeks here are some anti-inflams. They don't work so go back for proper pain killers dihydrocodeine which are fucking great by the way, though send me a bit loopy at work.
Here's the ridiculous part, bear in mind by this point I can only walk 20 yards before 100/10 pain.
MRI rejected by radiology at hospital because the physio needs to refer me. Physio only. So now need to wait 4 weeks for physio to request a 5 week wait for MRI to confirm what my Dr told me last week.
Sorry guys, just wanted to whinge.

If I don't work I don't get paid unfortunately. It's fine when I'm seated anyway.
The 10k definitely did it. I don't know why it has been getting worse in the last 3 weeks though.
I definitely have bad posture though and need to do core exercise stuff. Pilates is also really good which I was surprised at.

Pilates and physio work wonders (or at least they did in my case= one hernia and a half + chronic sciatica)
The doctors always advised against operating it because of the potential complications, so I had to find a solution and that did it. I can play 5-a-side or tennis 3-4 times per week again without problems now, obviously some pain in the ass (literally xD) will always be there but it's manageable. Hope you too can find a solution soon, it's very annoying.

@GeordieRacer
Buy Vitamin B (some multi b complex - e.g B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12), drink it for a week as pharmacy recommends (usually one dose per day), and some real magic might happen
http://www.pharmacy2u.co.uk/healthaid-vitamin-b-complex-supreme-capsules-p7585.html
smth like this probably (not from UK myself...)
But for sure check with your doctor or someone that don't have allergies etc. against respective vitamin complex
Just from personal experience with back (e.g. walking like penguin + enormous pain after some furniture moving etc), this shit does wonders
+ do some swimming if possible, all this infrequent physio is very inefficient compared to swimming e.g. 1km 3x a week, which does enormous positive effect on inner and outer muscles in back, which when strong takes stress away from backbone itself (which usually is not properly supported by those muscles, if you have some back pain)
but sure take MRI as well, as you never now if you don't have some more serious issue than simple musculature problems, it is always better to double check
A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.
