Hiya folks, still at the resort here and I'm having an issue with a PC here.

Has a fresh win7 installation which I did without a hitch.
The problem is that it won't connect to the internet. Just keeps saying it's an unidentified network.
This PC is one of two connected to a router. The other PC works fine.
Switching ports, resetting router turning it on and off, changing cables does nothing.
I even connected my own PC and got the same error, so it's not the PCs or the cables, which means it must be the router. Is it possible it's somehow blocking any other PC from joining?

Googling isn't helping much.

MAC filtering at the DHCP server (or anywhere else) enabled?!

If it is I'd have no way of knowing that, I have no access to the router itself unfortunately. The main IT guy with the admin password for it died a week ago taking the password with him. And the other guy who worked with him isn't answering my phone calls. I may have pissed him off once or twice this season.

Guess I'll have to go over his head. Again

No way of fully resetting it to default by a combination of button presses?!

Nope.
I'll keep calling that turtleneck in the summer wearing dick, but I wanted to see if I could do it without him.
Thanks anyway Saus. I'm home in 3 weeks and then it's someone elses problem.

He even connected his own pc and still give the same error, READING is hard huh Laughing

Unidentified network is usually displayed when it cannot detect the IP range from it and thus cannot place it in any of those categories. So 99% of the time, it's the DHCP refusing to give out IP and thus will it change to a local IP.

Yeah but that's only a temp solution, don't think he's looking for that. If only he could factory reset from the outside (or just get another router en plug it instead of that one Laughing )

Another router Laughing

This PC I'm setting up is a HP Pro 3500 MT. Google it for laughs. And I put in the requisition order 2 years ago. Needless to say it wasn't for that piece of shit.
Gimme an axe, put me in an isolated forest and I'll fucking BUILD a new router before I get a replacement here xD

Yeah, there are many ways to get locked otu of a router, they have failsafe factory reset switches on the device normally.

Otherwise, just wait for help, before you screw up something and get blamed for it.
