Upgraded my laptop from Vista to Win 7 (x86), not clean install, upgrade.

Now Windows Update doesn't work, it keeps searching for updates forever. I tried a couple of MS update fixing tools but they didn't work, any ideas?

I did update it manually to SP1 using that Offline update tool. But one of the updates just got stuck so I went to the folder and manualy executed some of them. That's how I got to SP1. But still nothing.

I can't find that unofficial SP2 update either, it's been wiped clean off the internet ....

Probably not what you are looking to hear but I would suggest a clean install if it was a Vista machine (meaning ancient).

Ewe, you were using Vista after 2009. Why would you do that.

It was on a laptop that I wasn't really using.

I upgraded my laptop (which I hardly use) from 7 to 8 and now 10 and haven't had any problems with it.

i upgraded from a tweaked win7 install that I used daily for gaming and browsing, and had 0 issues.

in fact, it's been so good, i'm too lazy to do a clean install Laughing

not a single freaking issue. but i've personally never had issues with any windows since xp era ended. Vista, 7, and now 10, all problem free and BSOD free.

The upgrate to 7 went pretty great, I was able to install newer drivers, too. It also got rid of some Tages drivers that got installed with some games 4-5 years ago I guess.

But the update check keeps checking forever
