Capcom is remaking PlayStation One survival-horror classic Resident Evil 2 for modern consoles.
A video announcing the project reveals it is being headed up by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, producer of the Resident Evil HD Remaster released in January 2015, and Capcom R&D Division 1.
this gen is nothing then remake this or remaster that ... how about new Ips for a change
You mean like Until Dawn ? The Order ? Bloodborne ?
have to get Until Dawn ... when the price drops , hehe got a PS3 Move for this game when it was a PS3 move exclusive ... heard some nice things about , how many different horror genres its got ... from ghosts , to slasher maniacs , to saw contraptions , to daemons , to monsters... and its changes its horror theme depending on your Choices ... now thats fucking brilliant
the order 1886 was nice but its story was to short , it was like you played a prequel to a much better Vampire VS Werewolves Vs Holy Grail immortal soldiers story line ...
Bloodborne its just another Souls game with a new theme Gothic Vampires and Demons ... thats the vibe i got from 2h playing it ... was ok but dunno it misses something
ok , we got some new ips but ... well one was yet another part of something , one was a game that became another Colonial Marines disaster , and one was a horror game that SONY did not wanted to PR (lol) only YT people save it from obscurity ...
Will this game also limit you to x amount of items held with no way to drop anything and lock you out of progress if you don't know everything beforehand?
I'm on the fence if I'm going to buy this one or not. It looks great, but I usually don't buy remakes of games I've already beaten. I hope there's new sections of the game that weren't in the original RE2.
After a really long wait, Resident Evil 2 returns. But don’t call it a remake, but rather it feels like a mix of remake and reimagination.
Its a remakination

How much is RE 2019 going to stick to the original? In terms of level design, is it a faithful 1 to 1 remake of the original RE2, or is it more of a retelling, with some of its own stuff added in?
It won’t be faithful one to one. For someone that’s played the game, some people played it once and some people played it a thousand times because it’s their favourite game. For the people that have even played it a thousand times, we wanted it to feel fresh. That’s why we don’t call it Resident Evil 2 Remake. It’s a new game built on top of the foundation. So for example, there is a part where you’re walking through the police station, and a lurker walks by the window.
In the original game that happens every single time. We don’t include that because of the jumpscares, the puzzles, and because we want you to be challenged by that stuff. We want you to be scared by that stuff, not just repositioned to a new part of the building, but sort of reimagined. Because we don’t want you to know exactly how the puzzles are solved, we don’t want you to know exactly where the enemies are going to be. We want to surprise you. So, we have changed things a bit. But on the whole, the main idea, the main arcs of the story are very similar. But there are going to be some new surprises in there as well.
You’ve claimed that you’re doing for a deeper narrative experience with RE2 2019. Is that referring more to narrative being aided by improved visuals, or have you done restructuring of story and rewriting or other things like that to improve upon the original game’s narrative?
Definitely both. For example, there will be places in the original game, that you just drove by, or maybe just walked by, or people that you talk to maybe had a handful of sentences. You’re really going to have deeper experiences with those. Sometimes you can actually go on and play for an extended period. Sometimes you have a little bit more deeper story with that person. They’re more involved than they were in the previous game. I can’t get into what those are, obviously. The narrative is definitely enhanced but I can’t get into what those are, obviously.
I hope they use this game engine to make RE8. I enjoyed 7, but I prefer third person to first person if I had the choice.
Given that not everyone was happy with the first person view of Resident Evil 7, maybe they’ll take a leaf out of Rockstars book and develop Resident Evil 8 with support for both first and third person gameplay
