Hi all. Been a while for sure since most have last heard from me. I apologize for that but I have a great excuse. I found that perfect person whom I want to spend the rest of my life with.

We've been dating a little over 2 months and I have been pretty much living with her most of that time. I went on a family vacation with her a few weeks ago and got to meet over 30+ of her relatives and friends. It was more like a re-union which they have every 2 years or so. I recently asked her father for permission and his blessing to propose to her and he very happily said yes. His exact words went something like "It would be an honor to have you as a son-in-law". So, needless to say, things have gone very well. Everyone of my family and friends adores her which is also a good thing.

While I'm fairly certain she knows I will be asking her, she doesn't know when or where I'll be asking. It's something I'm planning and brainstorming now. With her father's permission also came specific details on the type of stone she wants in her ring. She's low maintenance so please don't think she's picking something outrageous hehe Smile. I actually have a pic of the design that is very close to what I'd like to get her. Here:

Feel free to post your thoughts/comments and any other feedback you can think of. Thanks!

Well, all the best wishes to you and your future wife! Very Happy
Though i find a proposal after only two months a bit too early. But if you both think you are perfect for each other.

Regarding the ring: I am no woman, but i find a pale yellow stone on a silver ring a bit too "simple". A stone with a better, but not too strong, contrast would be better IMO. Like some purple or blue color tone.

The rock details are actually hers. She told her dad that she wanted a "light yellow diamond, oval shaped". While it is probably "simple", she doesn't want something overly elaborate. Just something a bit unique which is why she went with that color I think.

Are you fucking crazy?

I would never ever try to marry a woman before i'm at least together for a year or 3/4 . So many things can go wrong and a ring around the finger definitely doesn't change that.

Breaking up with someone after a couple of years is already shit but being married makes this so much worse.

I had a couple of relations where i thought in the first couple of months/year, "i wanna marry this girl", but i'm so glad i didn't at the end.

But yeah, thats just me. Maybe you got lucky and did find your soulmate. So GL to you.

This..

Marrying someone after 2 months? Jesus.. I've been with my GF for 8 years and living together for 6 i think, and even if I would be into marriage, which none of us are, I would still think long and hard about it. Longer than two months probably.

Hahaha Smile. I knew I'd get flak for the 2 months part and I would actually agree with you guys in the past. The more people I tell about all of this, the more I find out that it has happened to others as well. I've met people married in as little as 6 mos from knowing eachother. I have 3 good friends/co-workers that have a similar story as my own and are all in 20+ year marriages now and absolutely love it. I've met 2 of their wives and I believe it. They are great people that really just found their soulmates, too.

I know there is not much I could say that would sway your opinions so I'm not going to do that, but believe me when I say that her and I have had a lot of talks about our future together and we both believe in this. We're not kids (I'm 38 and shes 28. She has a Masters degree in the medical field and I have been going strong in the company I work for for over 18 years now) and we both know what we want and are looking for. It's a good thing Smile.

Anyway, I'm off to go research/shopping now. Wish me luck in finding the ring!

Can't think of any thoughtful feedback/advice because I'm not exactly a reliable counselor when it comes to this field, so I can only give you my best and most sincere wishes for... everything!! And a lot of happiness, that's the only thing that counts.

I'm very happy with the result and the wedding band will look very similar. It's called a "half" eternity style.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Her parents have already given me the thumbs up and a "cheers" as they drank to the occasion of me finding the ring Smile

Congratulations! Smile

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

The ring on her finger

The "stage" (at the beach)
http://i.imgur.com/y4nHZwG.jpg

So it was interesting since this was done at the beach and people swarmed to the spot thinking it was some shrine or something. My friends had to shoo them away hahaha. Anyway, I was kinda rushing us downstairs and the elevator was being super slow. I was trying to get there quickly so I could shoo people away too. So I get there, and put my arm around her and say my speech. She told me later she had no idea what I had said since she was so overwhelmed and wanted to make sure she said "yes" so badly that she literally drowned out everything else around her. She did say yes and some people on a blanket nearby cheered and clapped for us Smile. It was nice. I ended up reciting the speech to her again since I had been practicing it for several days.

Another funny story...So this morning she is at work (same place I work for today and Thursdays) and the first client she sees says to her "You're Mike's fiancé." hehe Smile. Yep, word travels fast here.

I'm 38. She just turned 28. She's a dietician and will help keep us in shape so I'm not too worried. Since I've known her, I've lost 12 lbs so it's not bad.
