met with a couple of old mates on tuesday to reunite after my return, only to have this glorioius bastard wash up on river bank after 2 days of searching. how did i kill him? i was the one that kept encouraging him to drink more, so much more that he got wasted. he took the route he always did when coming home, only this time he didn't make it. found yesterday. bloated with dried out blood on his face. no apparent struggle. most likely he just lost his balance and drowned.

when i found out i didn't feel a thing, only after i got drunk i broke down in the middle of a street and fell to the ground.

he was a huge, intelligent and warm nerd. when we saw him last, as he was leaving, he still had shanties blasting from a phone in his bag

we were all supposed to attend a huge larp party starting this weekend. now his mother, not only a widow, now also lost her oldest son, and the only support she probably had

today i woke up with a 2.5inch cut on the side of my face, with no recollection of how it got there, as if he left it there from beyond so i will never forget

This is just fucking sad and unnecessary. Id like to say don't think about it, but if it was me I would feel it too... BUT he could have stopped drinking at any time, so I guess he wasn't hard to convince. Anyway, RIP to your friend.

he was always an outcast and just kept trying to fit in, needlessly, as we accepted him for who he was

While encouraging him to drink more and more and more?
Weird form of acceptance.

This is how it works nowadays.
You have to get piss drunk to get accepted.
RIP to your friend, and I'm sorry for you that you had to experience it, but this just shows once again that alcohol will fuck shit up.

I hate you.

I had a high school friend who a few years ago slipped from a stairway while drunk. Apparently he broke his neck and died instantly. I guess that's how life goes sometimes. I'm sorry for your friend. May he rest in peace.

We all have a say in what we do, getting drunk is a decision everyone makes even when told to drink. Ive driven my race car on the street after drinking and even knowing theres going to be alcohol ive droven it there, ive never blamed anyone for my drinking and mishaps. Noone has intentions to get you drunk and killed and i doubt you did.

A sad chain of events but we are all bound to possibilities of accidents and misfortunes happening. RIP, be strong and remember it could have happened to anyone, you, me, whoever.

It was an accident, it's not anyone's fault. I've encourages mates to drink and been encouranged myself Very Happy

Plenty of times I've decided I've had enough to drink, then they bring more shots, the motherfuckers Laughing Laughing

No, seriously, forget this bullshit you're thinking. Maybe he also had a fight with someone that day, should that guy feel bad? Maybe someone on the internet told him to drop dead, is any of it his fault?

My point is, things just happen, it's only someone's fault if he was negligent or acting with bad intentions. If he could see you he'd just thank you for being a good friend.

It's tragic but I don't see how it could've been your fault. I know you probably feel responsible and are carrying it on your conscious but he was the one who took the drinks and got drunks. But then again, I know no matter what I or anyone here say you'll still blame yourself.... Sad So stay strong, buddy.

Sorry to hear it man Sad

Hindsight is 20-20 but also skewed to try to lay some blame on yourself when it comes to someone passing.
I cant think of anyone that died I personally knew that someone didnt go "I should have done this, or if I I had done Y..they would still be here". or "I knew i should have stopped by and said Hi yesterday" or such.

Its not your fault, its natural, even if sad for people to think back of what they could/should/would have done to keep that person here.
There is 1 million and one ways that night could have played out once you parted ways. To say you stacked the odds in favor of one of them is just hurting yourself when you dont know what really happened.
For all you know one of the many other nights you made him stay drinking could have been the night he was hit by a car or shot during a mugging, if you wouldn't have made him stay.
Life is funny like that..

cant blame yourself... it was his choice, and if he had a problem, then really, anything could have set him off.. or nothing... point is, dont beat yourself up over this, you're not to blame and blaming yourself is not only unnecessary, but pointless.

Why are people leaving mean comments.

It obviously wasn't your fault, you will realise it wasn't in the end.

The cut has nothing to do with what happened.

Oh man, this is awful. But it's not your fault, you couldn't have known what the outcome will be.

Sorry for your loss.

Sometimes you just got piss drunk because u want. I never had social problems in being accepted, and i know i love getting "carroças" every once in a awilhe. tragic accidents occur thats all. Even when you´re not drunk. RIP.
