Quote: | IGN Entertainment has acquired the Gamer Network family of digital brands for an undisclosed sum.
As a result of the acquisition, some redundancies have been made across the UK-based organisation.
Gamer Network’s publications are GamesIndustry.biz, Eurogamer (including six local language editions), Rock Paper Shotgun, VG247 and Dicebreaker. The business also holds shares in Outside Xbox, Digital Foundry and Hookshot (which operates Nintendolife, PushSquare, PureXbox and Time Extension).
IGN Entertainment is the division of Ziff Davis that includes IGN, MapGenie, HowLongToBeat, and Humble Bundle. It has acquired the websites from PAX and New York Comic-Con organiser ReedPop, which initially bought the Gamer Network business in 2018.
Not included in the sale are UK-based events EGX or MCM, or the digital brand Popverse, which remain with ReedPop. |

They were all good once
So many better sites died because of them. And because of IGN. IGN closed VE3D which was one of my all time favourite gaming news sites in the early days. It was one of those sites that was constantly updated & hadn't been infected with advertiser money, in a time when 'influencer' parasites weren't around. I hope everyone of them closes, including IGN.

Belular made a video about this and brought upp a good point. Even if these outlets do some reporting that mostly are shit there were sometimes important tidbits aswell since those ppl are/were working in the industry for years and years. If all outlets are closed whats left besides press release?

I read that the Dorito Pope wanted to buy GamesIndustry.biz but they were not interested in splitting it up and were looking for a quick sale as a whole package.
