11.22.63 is an upcoming American thriller limited series based on the book 11/22/63 by Stephen King, and will consist of eight episodes. The series is executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Stephen King, Bridget Carpenter and Bryan Burk, and is set to premiere on February 15, 2016.
11/22/63 centers on Jake (James Franco), an unassuming divorced English teacher who stumbles upon a time portal that leads to 9/9/1958 and goes on a quest to try and prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy, which occurred on November 22, 1963. But his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald, his falling in love and the past itself … which doesn’t want to be changed
Hulu's 11.22.63 also stars Chris Cooper, Josh Duhamel, T.R. Knight, Cherry Jones, Sarah Gadon, Lucy Fry,George MacKay, and Daniel Webber.
I haven't read it yet, but my missus *loved* the book and reckons it's one of her favourite Stephen King novels. Definitely looking forward to checking this out, especially with King being onboard himself.
King is on board this in the capacity he was in Under the Dome, meaning not really. Same goes for Abrams whose name is included merely because it's his production company that made this.

They changed the story a great deal, far more than I expected. It has the same premise and looks like it'll share various plot points with the book, but it's very different.
I enjoyed the first episode, but I can already tell I won't like it as much as I did the book. The book was a (very) slow burn, with an explosive ending (typically King's weakness). The show tries to cater to a TV audience, which means they constantly try to throw something new at you - the opposite of a slow burn.
Some of the changes made to keep the pace up simply feel too different from the book. Maybe someone with fresh eyes will enjoy the show more for what it is, but looking at it as someone who knows the original story, it creates a conflict where I preferred the original delivery.
I would still recommend watching it for anyone that was curious about the show tho. It's well-made and at the very least entertaining.
Overall, I only had one major complaint, for something happening at the end of the episode.
Spoiler:
That fire. It's clearly "Time" fighting back against the main character, trying to get rid of his documents so he'll have a harder time changing the events of the past. The problem with this is that "Time" is fighting back to keep itself unspoiled/untouched. Time wants to reduce the changes being made to the past. By creating a house fire, Time has instead created A LOT OF CHANGES. Especially once it leaves a kid half-burned. This isn't consistent. The idea is that Time makes the smallest changes possible to the past (a car that won't start, a phone that won't work) to protect itself. A house fire? The opposite of what it should/would do.
Does anyone else think Franco's acting is really bad in this? I'm constantly distracted by how bored he looks and how forced his facial expressions are when the scene he's in requires anything more than speaking calmly. I don't think I can take 8 episodes of this even though the premise is good, since Franco's character takes up 95% of screen time. I should probably just read the book instead.
Franco's not the best, but he is not annoying or off IMO, although a better choice could have been made.
I didn't read the book, and I enjoyed this first episode a lot. Interesting story and possible developpements, will eagerly watch the next one

I really enjoyed it, however I have concerns over one massive plot hole:
Spoiler:
if, when he returns to the present he can evaluate the impact of his actions, but should be return then everything is reset again, then why the fuck doesn't he go through, kill the bastard in 1960, come home again, see what the fuck happened - if JFK survived then cool, if not, go back and kill someone else etc. The whole idea of waiting 3 years seems pointless to me.
Oh and for those arguing that time is trying to stop him damaging the future, I ASSUME that the severity of his dabbling is severely greater than say a simple house fire. I assume that the symptoms of his dabbling are worse because they have a bigger affect on the future than say getting some bitch pregnant, scrubbing on a tree, etc

That exactly what I thought, but here is my take on it:
Spoiler:
Maybe the time it would take to try all those tactics would amount to too much, since time might not pass in current timeline, but time spent in the 60's is still "real" time, like by spending two years there, you age two years still when you go back.
So this hit and run tactic would take too much time, and maybe an investigation on who's who first would be more adequate, since if it's a plot, if you kill HLO, the people in charge would find another scapegoat or something.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
When does the second episode air? The subtitles are already up, but not able to find any release.
