The boxed version of the game, called the Legendary Edition, will include the base game, Horizons expansion and 1,000 Frontier points. This edition will also be available for the Xbox One.
Last December, Frontier said that the game will come with the following features for the DualShock 4:
Touch Navigation – Explore Elite Dangerous’ map of the Milky Way with a swipe using touch pad controls that make navigation fast and easy.
Extra Control – Customize four additional touchpad ‘hotkeys’ to suit your own play style.
Fast Headlook – Quickly track your enemies in the heat of combat with optional motion-based headlook controls powered by the DualShock 4 wireless controller.
Elite: Dangerous will also support the PS4 Pro.
Got this on Xbox and thought it was great but quickly ended up on the backburner. Plus I refused to pay the same price for the Horizons DLC as I paid for the game!
Might have to get it on PS4 with the Horizons DLC seems like a good deal plus the support for the touchpad is super nice!
To be fair, I did love the original. played it to death on the C64 in the eighties (showing my age lol) But not sure I've got the time or energy to even try and understand all the menu options and basic stuff of this version. Sure it's great though for those that can get into it
Frontier Developments have announced today that Elite Dangerous: Beyond – Chapter One will arrive on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One next week on February 27. Beyond marks the start of the third Elite Dangerous season, and will be free for all players.
Starting February 27, new contacts will become available for Elite Dangerous Horizons owners as tech brokers, dealers of rare tools and technologies, give players a chance to acquire new items based on their personal narrative and experience. In addition, material traders will allow commanders to convert and exchange materials, making engineering and unlocking missions with tech brokers more accessible.
Beyond – Chapter One also features an array of improvements and updates, including the addition of a trade data overlay helping commanders find the most profitable trades in the Milky Way, changes to the engineering mechanics which ensure guaranteed improvement when crafting, the overhaul of the mission rewards system as well as the introduction of a new combat ship, The Chieftain, built as a response to the new Thargoid threat.
