3 groups.. Reaction

Would you have preferred 2 groups of 6 with 5 first-round matches per team? Or maybe 4 groups of 3?

Next year's Copa America Centenario will be very Euro like, with 16 teams (thoug next Euro will unnecessarily be 24 teams now).

Anyway, after reaching the semifinals in the last edition I'm afraid we have no chance now, everybody playing friendly matches in preparation and our guys just "training" and watching tv in the hotel Reaction

lol wut Mad

Anyway, against all odds (judging by the present of both teams until today) we managed to win the derby Very Happy Colombia has only beat us once in the last 17 years in official matches (most of them WC qualifiers). I think it's the first time we manage to win our first match in Copa America. Next is Peru, we beat them recently in friendly match but they're playing well and are a hard rival for anyone Smile They're going against Brazil in less than an hour btw.

Speaking of Brazil I will just leave this there:

Glad that Venezuela won! #roadtothefinal xD
Under normal circumstances I'd watch all the matches, but somehow the Champions debacle has left so much ptsd on me that I can't do it (yet). Hope the effect goes away soon, it really sucks.

@Vech&Janz: true! had completely forgotten that the Vampiresque ban is still on for the national team.

Come again? Laughing How did I miss this? They sure did try to colonize the north of south america but that didn't go well Razz

Never been a german colony, there's however one small picturesque german "colony" 45 minutes from the capital:

They got assigned some small settlements by the crown of Spain and they tried to reach the fabled "El Dorado" from there but succumbed to both tropical diseases and constant attacks by the natives.

Back to topic, lucky Brazil got the win in the additional time

There's been 2 invited teams (generally from CONCACAF) for the last 10 or so Copa America. Jamaica is one of them this time around. Mexico is almost always invited.

Should be for both continents IMO.

Well as long as there's 2 separate confederations and their own separate shady interests it won't be like that. There's a special Copa America Centenario next year (until cancelled because of FIFA corruption scandal) where national teams from both confederations (and hence from the whole american continent) will participate, but like the name of the tournament hints at, only happens every 100 years Razz

BTW, another great match going on now, Chile vs Mexico Smile
