What is Eden Star
“From the ashes of dystopia to the precipice of utopia, Teslinium is our passage to the stars…” Vade Mecum Vox Veritas, Ch15 v12
With Earth’s biosphere diminished and the wastelands expanding, humanity reaches out beyond the confines of our dying planet to search for answers amongst the stars.
The space-faring Pioneers of the first migration fleet are mankind’s beacons of hope; sent to far-off, mineral rich worlds to find and excavate precious resources in order to re-establish balance and bring back their harvest to save Earth.
You are an augmented Pioneer deployed from the migration class vessel Eden Star, tasked with unearthing the remnants of the lost colony of Pharus 7, whilst terraforming the surface of this inhospitable, alien world. Equipped with the latest physics-manipulation technology; a mysterious, large, floating island above the planet's core is your domain to explore. You may choose to excavate and gather minerals in order to convert them into buildable resources, or sell them to the Eden Star in exchange for credits to upgrade your armament, outpost, or even purchase blueprints to gain access to further constructible components.
Whatever you choose, Pharus 7 is hostile to the aggressor, barren to the survivor and canvas to the creative…
As a Pioneer with a mystery to uncover and the ultimate power to create or destroy, will you play the role of aggressor, saviour, or architect as you explore the indigenous beauty of this intriguing landscape?
While it looks interesting, phrases like these are what I don't like.

Why we need your help
Our long term plans focus on something far beyond the scope of this kickstarter
.......
These features can one day be achieved if the game sees success beyond the Kickstarter and the player base begins to grow
.......
It sounds to me like a thinly disguised attempt to gather funds to produce another tech-demo with the basic gameplay in their vision to shop around to publishers. Or then to use as a basis for another kickstarter to get more money to actually finish the game. And then to ultimately produce an unfinished or bug filled game with cries of "We got in over our heads." like so many other kickstarters lately.
I wish them luck though. It certainly looks cool and what they have so far looks good.
Also, physical "rewards" are about as useless as sticking your dick in a weed-whacker if your game is shit. T-shirts, models, collectible shit, etc etc are useless and worthless if your game sucks. Physical rewards, in my opinion, only take away resources that would be better used for developing the game.
I love the look of this game and after seeing the video above I was almost swayed to back the project (I should note that I've been burned by the last and only two things I've backed - Guns Of Icarus and Ravaged).
However they've done the one thing that really pisses me off about these games/developers/kickstarter. I have to pay extra for beta access. I'm giving you money to help you develop a game, in my eyes I should inherently be given full access to that product to help with that process. It is not worth extra money, it is simply a frustrating way of pulling extra money out of people who can afford to pay for earlier access.
Don't get me wrong, I've paid in the past but looking at how this trend is growing it just annoys me.
£37 for beta access or £13 for the game. Is that beta REALLY worth over twice the price. Very annoying.
