Mad To Be Normal tells the story of world-renowned Scottish psychiatrist RD Laing and his unique community at Kingsley Hall, East London, during the 1960's.
R D Laing, otherwise known as the “Acid Marxist” of the 1960s and ’70s challenged the psychiatric thinking of the time by dropping the divide between patients and psychiatrists in an attempt to address insanity. To support this approach, he established a counter-culture community at Kingsley Hall, where and the two groups lived together. He also infamously took LSD acid, hung out with rock bands and established himself an icon of the 1960s.
