Wanted to give a heads up about this kickstarter for those of us who like jrpgs. It's got 4 days to go on it's campaign. They've met their goal and the current stretch goals still not reached (that i know of) is an Android/Ouya version at 175k and a Wii U version at 200k.
Pier Solar HD is an HD remake of the MegaDrive/Genesis version of the game (with some new stuff added to it as one of the already met stretch goals)
Here is a youtube clip of the old version:
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black | ASUS Crosshair VIII Dark Hero | 32 GB Trident Z 3600Mhz | Gigabyte Aorus PCIe4 1TB SSD | Corsair MP510 1TB SSD |ASUS RTX 3080 Ti TUF | Fractal Design Define 7 | Seasonic 850W Platinum
FIFTY FUCKING DOLLARS! Holy shit, that's insane! The KS was $15, now they want $50? Forget it Oh wait, that's for the boxed copy, which is the only one they have for preorder on their website -- all boxed copies for Dreamcast/PC/Megadrive. I guess the download will be $15 as usual.
I have trouble with seeing why things like these need kickstarters. Even though I'd love to give it a go. I sometimes feel like they are dropping stuff way too much on KS (same goes for steam's early access tho)

It's to buy Sega Mega Drive and Dreamcast devkits, of course!
Part of this delay is due to the developer's high standards. "Beta test is still going on: the game is super stable but some bugs are still being found. We can't, in our right mind, ignore those and go for release and rely on patches from day one," Watermelon said in a backer-only Kickstarter update (via Sega Nerds). "As long as there's a bug, there will be a fix until the game is as smooth as the original."
The developer went on to namecheck "never-ending perfectionism" as another reason for the delay. "Not only did we program some enhancements to the game such as the Director's Cut, but also some other improvements are being made to make Pier Solar better in usability and gameplay. Some of these improvements came a bit late in the project but we considered them essential for this release... some extra dev time was added due to those new features."
Delayed again, this time due to Microsoft certification bullshit. Steam version was accepted fine but they've delayed "all copies" because fuck everyone. Anyway, the blog has 3 updates detailing the new changes and additions, as well as the official trailer;
Pier Solar will be released on September 30th, 2014 for PS4, PS3, STEAM, and OUYA. Development is completed for all remaining platforms. The release dates for Xbox One, Wii U and SEGA Dreamcast will be announced next month, pending certification (Wii U & Xbox One).
HOLYSHIT, the game was 2 years in development and instead of remaking it and fixing damn issues original version had, they made direct, 1:1 port. Even fucking retarded control issues are here and they behave EXACTLY like in the original. Like if someone painstakingly tried to replicate all bad what was in there, dot by dot.

I checked your save, the beaver is in the forest waiting for you. Just don't make me spoil its location, ok?
This is one of the parts that changed in the director's cut.

I think there will be one in the guide, but here is some stuff from the top of my head (the obvious excepted):
*More money at the start of the game.
*Reja and Oasis continent battles a bit easier.
*Inns/healers at all towns.
*Three new dungeons.
*New and updated mini-games.
*Some bugs fixed.
*A few magics/attacks re-balanced (For example Heal MP stat and Rock n Roll gather requirement).
*Story updated a bit.
*Two possible endings, with a variation on one of them.
*A bit more variety on enemy groups you fight.
*MIni-map and other Lossa features.
*Savepoints.
*A few spelling/grammar errors fixed.
They reckon you can turn it off but you can't, or if you can I've seen no option for it. Disabling "Radar Beep" does absolutely nothing. Honestly... every single conversation window friggin' BOOP!!!!s loudly when it changes to the next window. Highly irritating. I'll put this on the back burner until they fix it :\ It looks like it could be an absolute blast though, brings me back to the classic Mega Drive days
Today we have released today an update patch that fixes numerous bugs and adresses some customer feedback as well as adding some BRAND NEW FEATURES:
Updates:
Graphics have been updated to have a brighter tone, some paths have been visually de-cluttered.
Healing spell: When used in game, it now shows the status of all characters while choosing who to heal.
New features:
In game options:
Added SFX Volume control.
Added Encounter Rate control.
In battle options:
Added Battle Animation speed control.
Game modes:
When starting a new game, if the game has been finished once and the slot selected already contains a saved game, it prompts New Game or New Game+.
New command line parameter:
triplebuf = Uses triple buffering method for swap buffers. Helps to avoid tearing in some cases but may cause some imput lag in some computers.
About New Game+:
When starting a game with New Game+ the items and character levels from the slot selected are copied to the new game, thus making the player start with higher levels and plenty of items.
I hope you all enjoy the updates, we're very happy to finally bring it live.
It's a very good game overall, yes, but you need a serious tolerance for uncomfortable and annoying sounds in a text-heavy jRPG. If you can live through that (and it seems the vast majority do it just fine ) then absolutely get this.
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
