So... am I the only one imagining that microsoft's usb dongle for 360 controller, slows down internet speed over wifi?

I guess it can be. Can Some of You who are using 2.4ghz band usb wifi to router connection, try and test speed with and without it ?

I am surely seeing 10-15mbits speed difference on speedtest.net. Did multiple tests on multiple servers, using multiple usb inputs. 100mbit connection. Getting as much on cable. 60mbits with 360 dongle plugged in and 75-80 without it.
That is on different channels... wtf. I know that usb receiver for 360 controller, is using the same 2.4ghz band but why does it affect all channels ? For me channel 12 is the best but still, the speeds are better with the little thing plugged off

get a channel sniffer if your router doesnt have it built in and just see which channel has the least devices in your area.

Why not just run a wired connection already? You seem to have a lot of troubles with WiFi.

I have TWO 100meters cat6 cables running from my router to other side of the house with no problem. They run thru the walls in the corner so nobody can even see them as they walk by.

I have eough cables too. Just dont want to hassle with walls drilling and shit. 60-80mbits /100mbit connection is pretty good on wireless anyway.
Even got rj45 cramping tool and and exchanged all connections today. Turned out that cable going into router was neither straight or crossover Laughing those it specialists from my isp...

All sorts of test != fieldtest

A fieldtest is an xtremely resource and time consuming process.
We are talking about long term testing.

How would you know if it's the 360 ding dong and not your ISP provider or generally a bad time (bandwidth wise)?

Two hours is nothing. You better start RIGHT NOW, logging and monitoring your connection for the next 3 monts. Then, you do the same without the Ding Dongle for another 3 months.

If you see a significant increase in avg bandwidth while not using the Dinny Dang, then obviously you're on to something big! Maybe as big as even Nvidias 970-gate!

YOU HAVE MY FULL SUPPORT, BUDDY!

dude. I am unplugging the dongle and seeing 15mibt increase. Plug it and seeing decrese. What more do You need ? Laughing
It's not rocket science and don't require hours of testing scientific way.
again. fuck off if You don't have anything useful to say

hope your rj45 cable is fine with all the cramps, if the blood flow is too heavy or lasts for more than 5 days you should get a doctor check it out.

tried it on another system and on your system using a different wifi stick? without doing that its hard to tell where the problem is.

never heard about such issues before, BUT that could be the reason why my phones wifi connection sometimes fucks up. (old router is under my desk and used as switch and to provide stable wifi access in this room. pc & ps4 are connected via cable. 360 receiver is on the desk)

I only have one system which is my desktop and it does affect wifi. I've tried front and back usb but who knows if the fault lays on the usb wifi dongle side or my motherboard/usb. I've disconnected all other usb devices to avoid throttling issue but who knows.

that way or another, my wifi speeds are much better with the thingie plugged out.
