More good news today as the atmospheric turn based RPG styled game 'Pioneers' by Eigen Lenk, is now available to buy as a work in progress build. An adventure, exploration mix, 'Pioneers' is set in the 16th century where you lead a party of travellers in search of treasure-rich temples, new tribes and ways to go down in history
Somehow I like graphics that aren't too 'complete' in rpgs and roguelikes, as they allow for your imagination to take over where the graphics come up short.
This looks like an interesting game!
Turn-based gameplay
Classical pixel-art using four-color palettes
Customized character creation
Beginnings of a grand adventure
Huge procedurally generated world
Discoverable caves, temples and villages
Symbolic language
Harsh winters
Resource gathering and cooking
Building shelters and huts
Over an hour of original feet-moving, head-bobbing soundtrack
Relaxing soundscape of wind, waves and seagulls
I played what looked like this game on C64.
It better have some fucking amazing gameplay cos i'm sick and tired for using 'retro' as excuse for shitty graphics.
This isn't even charmingly retro that adds to the aesthetic - this just looks old.
