Point being VR projects will have a lot of great exposure during GDC... very excited to see what everyone has to show, its a great thing that there will be awesome competition now ... Valve entering the race is the best thing ever ... as for the trolls from a few posts above ... keep trolling, you are great at it kids ...
I want to learn more about DirectX12 too, it seems like it is going to be an epic api ...
I wonder why 3 cables ?
Hdmi, Usb, audio jack ? if it also. seems neat
I really hope its good.
Oculus really fucked up dk2. Dk1 was very simple and worked with everything. sure, dk2 had better specs but their sdk, drivers and methods of getting the damn thing to work, synchronize etc, were horrible. I would much rather prefer dk1 60hz but jsut with much better screen... Actually the only thing that bothered me with dk1 was bad screen and poor sweetspot on the optics

About the original post, I just think (one can dream) that if Valve releases this amazing, epic HMD, that they should bundle it with HL3 at release ... It might be the reason they waited this long in the first place.
I mean... there is now NO WAY that hl3 wont be vr game made for their hmd and steam controller.
It is very wise of them to realease both controller and vr. And at that, that controller is also a mouse !

I think this conference will make the final big push for VR to go mainstream, I have a lot of trust in Oculus and Valve and between now and next three years or so we might be in the middle of something really big and revolutionary in a somewhat stagnant world of video games ...
Just playing the below linked demo in DK2, makes me think what it might be like to make a AAA Iron man game (just an example) where you fly around with the helmet view ... even in this crap resolution mode its one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had with any game period ...
Valve will be there to show their hardware, not software. Do not expect L4D3 to be announced there.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
Chances are they'll begin the conference with a realistic G-MAN on display staring into the souls of every visitor watching, crowd will cheer, people will go crazy and gaben will come out and say with source engine two we can now do things never before possible. Look at this fidelity! look at these textures! And then a headcrab sound will play and people will go bonkers thinking it's about to happen! And then gaben will take out the ctrl-v (controller by valve) and he'll turn everyones attention to the big display prompting an ambigous start menu.
src2.0
ctrl-v
valve-vue
portal training grounds (using src2 we can now procedurally generate puzzles giving the player hours upon hours of non stop puzzle action with a story written by an oscar winning duo)
left 4 dead 3 (with src2.0 we can now implement sfm angles, techniques into our games for replay value, in l4d3 when you die, you won't just specate in 3rd or 1st person view, you will a prcedually directed spectate mode where it not only feels, but also looks like a tv show just like the original creators intended)
Tf warehouse (now with src2.0 take your hats to a new level, with tf2 warehouse a virtual storefront is at your fingertips, browse an endless warehouse and browse and try on the wares)
Richocet 2 (now with story mode)
CS-GO ported to src2.0
netcode fixes
graphical improvements
Src2.0 the next thing in gaming
but valve has a press conference on the 3rd of march at 3 pm, majortrolling by gaben ^^
not really, the episodic thing fucked them over.
they're a lazy dev studio
parties, play rooms, social rooms, no real things happening apart from personal projects.
it's a money making machine - yes but they're all lazy over there.
if hl3 does come out it'll be a full - total - complete game with story dlcs coming out once a year.
Edit: How much is the latest Oculus Build? Resolution wise...I dont mean the DK2.
dk2 was 1080p 75hz
the new prototype res is unknown. Rumors say its using 1080p/1440p screen with some kind of aa filter on it to make up for res.
The htc thingy is 90hz.... now thats crazy. Even if the thing is only 1080p (if so, it fucking sucks as 1080p oled looked like shit. 1080p lcd would be a bit better but blacks are fucked then)
Not many people are able to play pretty much anything at 90fps. 90fps "dual screen" is even more out of the question. Especially at anything higher than 1080p............. This all vr stuff is going the wrong way...
Dk2 was a horrible jittery experience at anything below 75hz, while dk1 was smooth nice experience at 60hz.... this all low persistance thing is kinda not worth it
