Or game maker? Or anything else like those?
Can I harass you over Steam or something with some questions?

Why Unity, and not UE4? If I remember correctly, they have a ~ similar pricing model. At the cheap subscription model, EU4 is a "steal". If you have an educational mail, register at github to get two years for free.

I am not sure about that, UE has many great learning materials. UE is a much more robust engine. What are you aiming to achieve?

I thought UE4 is C++ exclusive leo and with inter's little programming experience the mono based development of unity should be easier, no? Afaik Unity is still better when it comes to multi platform dev but you have to consider the higher fees for the modules to export to android/ios etc etc

Unity is the easiest engine to work with by far. UE4 is one of the most complex ones to work with (very unintuitive, both interface and API).
UE4 made some improvements like adding visual scripting to make it friendlier to beginners but generally it has a steep learning curve before you can implement something decent. One exception being graphics, it's much easier to create a pretty looking game in UE4 than in Unity.
For your project I suggest Unity, it has everything you need and will be easiest to use. If you aren't afraid to experiment and take a while to learn it, UE4 can pay off in the end because it is a more robust engine, offers source code and is generally much more proven with mid- and large-sized titles.

Ohh right, they removed UnrealScript from 4. I guess it improves performance, but makes it more unfriendly. You could create a game in UDK with little programming skills for scripting, which was much simpler than C++.

Just make sure to setup the camera in the same way as you did in your 3d rendering : o)
