I didn't see any topics for this game, and a search of the forums came up dry.
Overgrowth is an upcoming video game from Wolfire Games. The game was announced on September 17, 2008 for all three major computer platforms: Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
The game plays as a 3D third-person brawler, set in a dystopian medieval world of anthropomorphic fighter rabbits, wolves, dogs, cats and rats. The game design is led by David Rosen, mainly known in the Mac game development community for having won the game development contest uDevGames three years in a row. No release date is available yet. Wolfire recently completed basic animation and movement systems, and have begun work on the combat system.
They release a playable alpha every week to people who preorder the game (30 dollars) and it looks interesting.
check out some of the videos, some of the features seem very interesting
* The game environments will be affected by conditions such as weather and trees growing more rapidly in sunlight.
*a modular armor system
* realistic vegetation growth
* a wide array of sharp weapons
* an editor for user-made maps and scenarios.
* online high-scores and replays
* multiplayer (likely co-operative, unconfirmed)
* RPG elements
* procedural cities.
I don't think the feature list is still like that. I think I've heard them say they've resigned from making it open-world and making vegetation grow and stuff. But I'm not sure, they haven't exactly done much in terms of actual gameplay beyond movement and combat.
I wouldn't expect much more than it being Lugaru 2, though.
To quote the game site's FAQ:
"Will Overgrowth be an open world game?
Many people have asked this, and everyone seems to have a slightly different definition of what an "open world" is. You can expect the Overgrowth single-player campaign to be fairly linear like Lugaru with hopefully a few major decisions along the way to spice things up."
Missed Lugary, seems like a interesting fighting game, might be fun to check out even if it's still in alpha format but it seems promising and from viewing the screens quite a step up from Lugaru, though I don't know much about either title currently.
I wanted to make a thread for this game but I wanted to see if anyone else knows about it and it looks like very few do. Lugaru is one of the best fighting games in my opinion, maybe even the best for me. I'm not actually into fightning games, but Lugaru is amazing. I hope Overgrowth will be more complex than Lugaru, other than that all seems good.
I am sure if it was any good someone would put a pc version up instead of mac only.
Facts & figures on obesity: Obesity is one the major health challenges worldwide and has become an epidemic over the last decades. Europe has the highest number of overweight and obese people in the world. The number of obese people has in fact tripled over the last 20 years in the Europe, according to the WHO. Today, over 130 million people are obese in Europe; approximately 10%-20% of men and 15%-25% of women. In addition, 400 million people are overweight in Europe.
I've been playing the alpha builds a bit and it's very promising so far, usually update every second week but haven't checked the development in some time now, will be interesting to see how it'll progress but what's available so far is impressive already.
1: i think the blood was done over the top on purpose just to show it off.. these are just tech demo/proof of concepts
2: supposidly theres a game to be designed out of all this tech eventually... at the moment all thats being shown is the technology the guy is working on and putting in to the game.
from the looks of it, its gonna be some kind of beat em up open world game..
