Quote:
DotEmu, developer and publisher specializing in modern releases of beloved retro games, is proud to announce that Double Dragon Trilogy will be available on PC on January 15th. A groundbreaking, uber-popular game upon its arcade debut in 1987, Double Dragon is the undisputed godfather of co-op beat ‘em all!

Enter Double Dragon Trilogy, a compilation including all three installments of the beloved arcade series: Double Dragon, Double Dragon 2: The Revenge, and Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone. The first one begins with Billy and his brother Jimmy, two martial arts experts, in a mission to rescue Billy's girlfriend, Marian, who’s been kidnapped by the Black Shadows Gang. All your favorite moves are here: punches, kicks, elbows, knees, head-butts and an assortment of not-exactly-street-legal weapons.

FEATURES:
  • Two game modes: “Arcade” (play the game from beginning to end and go for the high score) and “Story” (unlock new stages and achievements while playing through the game)
  • Customizable controls (keyboard & controller)
  • Three difficulty levels: “easy” (easier than the original), “original” (similar to the arcade version) and “expert” (a real challenge!)
  • Choose between the original 8-bit soundtrack and a brand-new remastered one!
  • Choose between the original graphics or video filter
  • Local or online multiplayer

So Much Win !!

Let's hope it's a proper version and not REALLY a port of the Android/iOS versions because to be completely honest... they're terrible.

I have fond memories of the Nes version of DD2

I was blown away by the final boss music and how the game becomes b/w and goes into slow motion at the final punch/kick. So Much Win Awesome

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Well, I played the arrr release. Long story short: Buggy, laggy and unoptimized mess Laughing

Better to get Double Dragon Extreme:

Made in the BoR engine (includes 1,2,X remakes)

or you can go for Double Dragon Advance for GBA Very Happy

Strange, I didn't have any problems with the Yarr release and I've got the legit one now. Well, I didn't have any laggy issues or bugs, there is some kind of strangeness about the animation though.. there's a lot more sprite flicker than the arcade and sometimes it seems like they're missing frames of animation. It's a night and fucking day improvement compared to the awful iOS version though Smile

Thanks for letting me know about DDX, I'll happily grab that! Hopefully it's better put together than all the other BoR mods, because so far my experience with BoR is "please, stop, please... it's so bad Crying or Very sad"

Laughing

~edit~

Well, it's fast and smooth and responsive, so that's good, but NO KICK!? You only have one attack button (four "attack button" options in the menu but only "Attack 1" works), one jump and one "special" which is hurricane. There's no manual kick outside of combos Mad

Super Double Dragon was pretty good as well

However, I would just play Streets of Rage or Final Fight instead.

@Sabin:
You lucked out then!

Haha I know what you mean by the terribad BoR mods where users cram all their favourite characters from so many different games that it ends up looking uglier than E.T.. and to say nothing of the unbalanced gameplay Laughing

Yeah, there's no kick button the 3-ism's make up for it!

@TiHKAL: Yeah FF1 is still king followed by SoR2. FF3 for snes is also pretty good but it's really tough. I would also add Cadillacs and Dinosaurs to that list.

Now I feel old Crying or Very sad

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Arrow keys. When you start the game or die during a playthrough, left and right keys will change the color of the font which
corresponds to the particular ISM. Dumb choice on part of dev but that's how it works Laughing

Woah thanks Yuri! I never played that one.

My brother and I played through almost every single one of that style of game. My two favorites for MAME are D&D and Punisher.

I'm going to have to give that one a go the next time my brother is in town!
