You know what's funny? Women LOVED Magnum PI. Men LOVED Magnum PI. Now they decide to make Higgins female because "the show lacked female characters for our female audience to identify with" and as such, it means nothing about the original or what made it good can exist. The whole series was about how TC and Rick were exploited by Magnum while Magnum and Higgins kept butting heads all the time. Since Magnum was notoriously crazy about girls, making Higgins a woman would make this entire thing crash and burn.
Then again, they wouldn't want it to be like the original anyway, would they? Which begs the point: why the FUCK rape its name like this in the first place?

Was Magnum a Navy SEAL in the original? Otherwise it appears Lenkov lacks imagination and can only write characters who are Ex-Navy SEALs who use their skills to help others.
Hawaii Five-0: Steve McGarret is an ex-Navy SEAL who uses his skills to help others in Hawaii.
Magnum PI 2017: Magnum is an ex-Navy SEAL who uses his skills to help others in Hawaii.
Might as well cast the dude from Hawaii Five-0 and glue a mustache on him.

Just imagine the confusion of a guy who suddenly wakes up after having been in a coma for a few years, he turns on the TV and sees a moustacheless latino Magnum PI, a flat Lara Croft, Melissa McCarthy and friends as the Ghostbusters, a douche teen MacGyver, he looks for a science show and Bill Nye Saves the World pops up, then he watches the news and sees Trump speaking as the US president. It must feel like some sort of Truman Show by The Onion
