it is not funny at all, fucking nvidia and gigabyte
GPU works great in my old setup.
Now I am stucked on integrated 4690k gpu.
and this shit is not working:
Quote: | recently build a gaming rig with the same mother board and similar graphic card, however I have the GTX 660. After the window logo, my screen would go black. However after looking through forums, I found this solution which worked for me. Since we have almost similar setup, you should give it a try.
Try these steps:
1. Turn off the computer and unplug
2. Remove Graphic card
3. Plug the monitor to your video output
4. Turn on the computer
5. Click on start and type msconfig
6. Select the Boot tab and click on the box that says Safe boot with minimal selected.
7. Apply then click ok.
8. DO NOT RESTART.
9. Shut Down computer and unplug
10. Install Graphic card
11. Turn on the computer (should boot into safe mode)
12. Go into Device Manager
13. Expand Display Adapter
14. Disable the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 driver. (DO NOT UNINSTALL)
15. Click the start button and type msconfig
16. Unclick Safe boot
17. Restart
The computer will restart normally and will receive the black screen after the window logo. Just follow those step and you should have a problem. However, there is always a possibility that it may be a different issue. But since you have a new build, I highly doubt it could be anything else. Let me know if that work for you.

also nvidia has sticky topic in their forums with no help at all

Tried unplugging from your monitor or TV while your computer is on and then plugging it back in? Just a thought from when I had problems a while ago with nvidia drivers.

Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5
Intel Core i5 4690k
2x4GB Kingston HyperX Fury
WD 1TB
the gpu is actually old one - Zotac GTS 450 1GB GDDR5
tested on Win7 and Win 8.1
with old Q6600 and Asus P5K Pro it works without problems....
Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Noctua NH D15 Chromax, GIGABYTE RTX 5070 Ti Windforce, GIGABYTE X670 AORUS ELITE AX, Corsair 2x16GB DDR5 CL30

I guess you started your PC with only one monitor plugged in (if you have more than one)?
And does boot fine with safe mode? (don't know if Win8 still has that)
Maybe some fucked up resolution is set, for whatever reason

Try 314.22 drivers to see if it's really the drivers that are a problem. Those were the best working ones for quite a while for the 400 and 500 series.
(yes I know that got 'fixed' 3.23, but the one I'm suggesting is a guaranteed working driver version to test it out.)

yes
yes (safe boot uses windows gpu drivers)
might be, gonna borow some notebook and I will test it via teamviewer
@Morphineus: tried those on fresh win 7 installation... no signal.
--------------------------
but after reading that topic on geforce forums I am afraid it is something with gigabyte mobos/intel chipset and nvidia drivers/cards causing this problem.

Quote: | Dear all,
I have found a solution to most of your problems.
Simptons: Black screen after installing Nvidia Graphics Drivers
Solution: If your motherboard has an onboard graphics card, disable the onboard and set it to boot from PCI Express slot 1 (if you have it in slot 1, if not so then set it to boot from whatever slot you have put your graphics card in). Once done so, restart and it should go to the graphics card and boot up as normal.
(These problems mainly occur on the GIGABYTE boards with the UEFI BIOS
Problem: Certain motherboards (mainly intel type boards) fail to disable the onboard graphics when PCI graphics is installed. |
well I am going to fucking return this mobo to retailer and get new model from asus or asrock asap.

you didn't disable all onboard shit at first boot
that's like the first thing I do when I enter BIOS..
- disable onboard video
- disable onboard audio
- disable onboard lan
- disable intel smart shits
- disable UEFI
- disable Spread Spectrum
there is no need to use onboard video unless you're trying to run a 3-rd monitor on a GFX with only 2 sockets..

Not trolling. I work closely, well as close as european rep of manufacturer can get you, with mobo manufacturers and ASRock for me has the best support from the lot. Gigabyte just don't care anymore.

how to disable uefi?
i need onboard lan and audio :/
pity this shit is not working, that fucking mobo has a some nice lights |
there is a setting somewhere, where you can select UEFI/UEFI and Legacy/Legacy only
and ffs buy a decent Intel ePCIx1 100/1000 lan card
the onboard can only go up to 8MB/s AND they use up system resources - try downloading at full speed and you can't do anything else, while a dedicated one makes 12MB/s+ and you can play dx11 games no problems
they cost like $30 the very good ones

put all CPU voltages on NORMAL, as the MB tends to up the voltage when you up the multiplier
set the core multiplier to x42
set the uncore multiplier to x41
disable the TURBO
I'm running the 4670K at x40 and x39
set FSB to NORMAL too to disable Spread Spectrum
