dude its impossible to have more then 12% alcohol in beer. cause something in it, some kind of living thing (dont know english name) starts dying at 12% after which the alchol level cant rise anymore.
no need to discuss this, heard it from my prof of chemistry and since i am really interested in beer i listened carefully
same thing with wine btw
so if it says the beer / or wine has more then 12% alchol level they are lying

edit: oh just to add to your discussion... we did this stuff in science and how variables effect the way yeast works.. temperature, air etc. it wouldn't be impossible to rise above 12%. most brewers have a special way of brewing anyway to get the most out of it, i'm sure there's a technique to get it past the standard 12%
