So I may have acid reflux :\
For two years I always had sore throat. Sometimes it was bad so I got antibiotics, and it would calm down, but the sore throat persisted. Also I guess I had a mild heartburn, but I always attributed that to overeating
Last couple of months it got worse. I can really feel the burning. I tried otc antacids, but that was only temporary.
Plus all the symptoms point to reflux.
I got controloc, and if things calm down then yaaay, if not I'll have to go and get a gastroscopy :S
Also I need to ration down, not eat anything unhealthy, not eat after 8 etc.
I guess it's my shitty genetics. My mom had stomach problems, and my sister has chronic gastritis, so I was bound to get something. Also the stress could be a contributor. This closet thing is getting to me :\

Get better soon Dingo! <3. Shouldn't be anything serious in my opinion, it's pretty common (and annoying, too), but gastroscopy is indeed always recommended in these cases, so you can properly identify the problem and take the adequate countermeasures
And unfortunately stress is one of the worst enemies when it comes to stomach problems :S

My mum suffers from this and I've seen how miserable and in pain it leaves her, not to mention that I also suffer from a continual sore throat that means I spend a lot of time coughing - so you have nothing but my sympathy mate. Hopefully you feel better soon <3

I used to have this pretty bad but I stick to a pretty scrict timing on eating and so forth that's helped a whole lot. I know it's mean for heartburn but I take omeperzole on a regular basis and that's helped a whole lot too. I haven't had acid reflux in a while.

Yeah that's mine biggest concern :S I hope it won't be anything serious :\

I have a great vision and my joints don't hurt, so I'm good on those fronts. I do have migraines, and generally speaking, I never had great genetics :\ Always something fucked up.
What was the problem in your case?
Thanks for the encouragement. And ixi my body is ready xD For the massage ofc!
@sabin1981 It's actually the sore throat that bothered me the most, and frequent inflammations of the throat. Like I was on antibiotics every 6 months for the past 2 years. My doctor even changed the antibiotics not to make bacteria resistant to it.
@SpykeZ I'm counting on this new drug to help. I'll also have to watch what I eat. This sucks the most :\

Gastroscopy is a must. You might have hiatal hernia, at least that what I have. It's operable but really no one recommends it, at least not in Poland.
I will be on omeprazole to the rest of my life, of course the symptoms can be lessen with diet but diet sucks the most.
I hope you don't have it, the drugs works wonders but who would wish that.

He will know if he has a hernia like that because he wont be able to work he will be throwing up at some point and the pain will make him bed ridden. When I went to a doctor because of what seemed a hernia in the upper area of the chest wall ( which is a little different ) the doc came in the room with student in training, poked me in the area said nope ur just fat do more exercise and promptly walked out the room.
His name was "Dr Rude" strangely enough lol. Fucking cheeky twat I was correct weight.
@dingo_d - I had a genetic inheritance dna marker HLB27 (think that was the right one) where not many in uk have it so its said which stems from my mother who has both types of arthritis issues. I suffer with Iritis for a fair few years along with stomach issues with acid, the eye issues came out the blue and hit both eyes then eventually now only one gets the problems which can require steroid drops for 7 weeks.
The Iritis was eventually diagnosed as a Uvitis issue only after years of wondering wtf my stomach was doing and an indian eye doctor asked if in any of my examinations or help did anyone test for this marker dna thing. So he did and it came back positive, then I went onto the specialist that led down the path of bone issues coming on and my mothers curse of arthritis in its early forms, which with my uvitis and stomach etc led to spinal arthritis problems where if I dont take care of myself I will most surely get the bones in the spine fused together and ill be chair ridden. :O
Fortunately do not fear! there is good meds now and arthritic issues are being treated very well of late, unfortunately the spinal fusing of vertebrae probably cant be helped that much without operations. My mother already also has a titanium cage in the base of her neck otherwise the crushed nerves in the bones pushing together with muscle would of paralyzed her.
Its great fun , the random discomfort you get through the days and weeks are odd as some days u feel great then suddenly like a sack of shit.
Good luck hope it dont turn into any other underlying issues lol.

I have this hernia. I was not bed ridden or vomiting like Selma Blair. I drunk a lot of mint and the acid from my stomach burned my gullet. It felt like some heart problems but nothing like you said. It was hard to work due to the sensation but nothing like you described. |
I had someone living with me a while who had this and was bed ridden till he had operation to close the opening of the stomach a little, no need to scratch head you obviously did not have it bad enough to be bed ridden. This guy is 6ft 2 built like brick shit house, is a bricky/builder and it brought him to his knees.
He had shit going on in there so bad that they tucked his stomach I think to lower the amounts he could ingest, told him no more spicey foods or various other shit but he still bloody goes and eats all that crap lol.
You say you "have" this hernia, if you still have it I am at a loss why. If hernias are bad they get operated on fairly fast.
a little cap for u regarding hernia advice.
Quote: | hernias only tend to get worse and every day we leave them untreated, we run the risks of complications setting in as well as facing a larger operation eventually.
The only advice that should be given once a hernia is diagnosed is to get it repaired as soon as possible.
Many of the giant, even inoperable, hernias we see started off being ignored due to well-meaning advice by their GP. |

when i was driving and in agony I would drink bottles of gaviscon, and i mean large bottles of it through the day, eventually it stopped working
Thats the point when you know ur fucked! also same was for me with anti flam pills for my joints the body can get used to certain pills and they end up not working for you no more, think I went through a fair amount of brands of tablets at one point.
The combination of the ones I am on now seem to not be good for me I think they are making me constipated and who the fuck needs that pain that can come from that as well as stomach general issues. Fml.

Oh man, that sucks moose :\ I hope you'll get better. Or at least that your condition won't be worsened (if that's of any comfort :S). I don't think I have this, since I haven't heard of anyone in my family having it.
Also I hope it's not hernia :\
But it could be something related to that 'valve' at the end of my esophagus. Because like a week ago I was working out, and I hadn't eaten anything for 4 hours, and while on a bench press I felt acid coming in my mouth :S That was nasty feeling :\
Also I've noticed I have some acid buildup. But I just ate some bicarbonate soda and burp it out
I definitely need to move out. Everybody says that stress is a big contributor to stomach problems.

yes stress does not help at all as it surges the acid in the stomach like tidal waves
the valve is a big part of lots of acidic issues, the flap does not close when its all swollen or when you have too much fatty tissue on your body around the area of stomach etc. If you work out im guessing thats probably not an issue but I was shocked when I was told to shed weight when I first had a visit to doc.
It will get worse for me btw its inevitable as ankylosing spondylitis is something not cured and damages you and thats that.
