Put the pitchforks down ladies and gentlemen, SE isn't running a crowdfunding campaign as you'd think it was, instead they're about to launch a new development/publishing enterprise called "Collective" which, at its very crux, basically gives people the opportunity to crowdfund development on a game that uses Square-Enix assets/characters/etc. Sadly... this only applies to the Eidos portion of Square-Enix, so no SE-approved remakes of Final Fantasy, but at least we could see a new Deus Ex game! \o/ While I really don't agree that publishers should be allowed to use crowdfunding, I do see this is a small step towards listening to people that constantly shout "Make a new Deathtrap Dungeon, take my money!" -- publishers often refuse to take the risk on these things, but won't just give the IP away, so fan-beloved series' just rot. At least now SE are saying they'll work on a new XX if people are willing to fund it via crowdfunding.
Interesting idea and I want to see how this pans out.
My idea for the crowdfunding is simple: cancel all the Thief, Hitman, Tomb Raider and Legacy of Kain sequels/reboo's currently under development and re-make them from scratch, 100% derp free and faithful to the original concept. Can we have this Square Enix?
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
Today during the publishers Collective discussion at GDC Next the three Collective accessible IP’s were revealed; Gex, Fear Effect and Anachronox.

They've got $11k in the first day and already a Kickstarter "Staff Pick" - which I'm sure is due to Square-Enix' involvement, for better or worse. Looks interesting too though I know a few on here are going to go into Red Alert over the pixel art
And more information about the Collective, as well as various projects that need feedback before they go into crowdfunding;
Haha yeah, I was quite skeptical when I read about the pixel art part, but the trailer/teaser wasn't too bad actually. At least they're not slaughtering old franchises, it's something
