I understand if the story is not your cup of tea. But an actor's acting not your cup of tea?

Yep, he didn't fit the role, at least IMO.
And like i said, the crying scenes, always showing his (fucked up) teeth exaggerated in there, was a huge turn off for me.

Soooo, i just finished watching all 4 seasons for the first time ever.
Took me little over 1.5 weeks to finish it.

Well coming from Stargate, it was not what i expected, not by a long shot.
Buuuut, eventually the show grabbed me and i got into it.

Now, Baltar was one annoying little twat, whenever there was a scene with him it became annoying. This redeemed itself later on in the show tho and was less annoying into S4.

Admiral Adama. Why the fuck put such an old guy with fucked up face and teeth in command of the ship. He looks very weak and his acting was ok-ish. Especially scenes where he had to cry where a fucking disgrace and almost had me puke with these close-ups of his teeth sticking out.

Saul.. Well IMO he was one of the better ones, even tho he was annoying at the very start, he became a very attached character for me. His acting was superb.

The rest was kinda so-so.

The ending was ok-ish, altho i rather had seen something else, but at least BSG got an ending, unlike SG:U Wink

BSG was a fine filler for the summer stop, but not something i would watch again very soon.

Did you watch the mini series and the movies ? Also Olmos IS the perfect W. Adama. I don't see what you have against him lol.

No i didn't, just the series.

Don't see why both of you are so keen on trying to convince me otherwise, i'm still entitled to my own opinion, and not everyone has the same taste in movies and actors.
This is one i disagree with you guys on, sorry if that makes me bad in your eyes then Smile

The Olmos thing aside (yes, everybody can have a different taste/opinion on it, no biggy). But you REALLY have to watch the mini series. Its basically the real Season 1 (and it was also filmed and released as such). Not watching it, is really missing most of the plot later on (because a lot things make no sense, if you don't know what happened or what characters did or didn't do what).

http://thunderpeel2001.blogspot.ch/2010/02/battlestar-galactica-viewing-order.html

there is the ultimate and correct (timeline) viewing order for the show, including the movies, webisodes and the most important part, said mini series Smile

Well it's kinda too late for a proper order, since i finished the series.
Not gonna watch the other spin-offs.
Like i said, i expected something totally different that eventually turned out quite ok to watch for me, but not something i would watch again.
If i do another marathon of watching this in 10 years or so, then i'll use the correct order, but for now, this will go on the shelves Wink

The spin-offs part was directed at Blood and Chrome, and Caprica Wink

ah those, yeah they can be skipped hehe. Well, caprica for sure. Blood and chrome is more of a proper prequel to the show, then a spin off. Especially since it's about Adamas early years during the first war.

‘Battlestar Galactica’ Movie Gets New Life at Universal

Universal is ramping up a movie version of the sci-fi franchise “Battlestar Galactica,” aiming to develop the film as a complete reimagining of the story.

“Transcendence” writer Jack Paglen has signed on to write the screenplay. Paglen has also committed to Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” sequel for Fox that will start production this fall.

Original series creator Glen Larson will produce the “Battlestar Galactica” film.

not sure what to think of that. The series is in my book as one of the best in history of TV Series.

Not sure it could work as a movie, since it takes them quite some time to reach their final destination. I suppose it could work as a Trilogy. Then again, the series is still fairly new, why would you rereboot it now?

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I really liked the Razor movie, i don't see why they couldnt do something similar to that instead of reimagining the whole thing.

How would they cast Robert Pattinson and Megan Fox if they had to use the original cast ?

http://www.foro3d.com/f168/making-a-space-scene-the-battlstar-galactica-way-using-lightwave3d-66520.html

Man I love finding stuff like this

Quote:
Hi there out in Lightwave 3D Land!
My name is Kelly "Kat" Myers. You might know me from the NewTeque Lightwave3D forums as DJ Lithium. While you are reading this tutorial I highly recommend you tune into my trance radio station with winamp by clicking here. http://www.blacktigerrecordings.com/trance.pls or visit www.blacktigerrecordings.com for more tunes!

OK, so I used to worque on Battlestar Galactica Seasons II and III as the Visual FX consultant for the show. Of course that means most of the time they ignored me even though I was just repeating bak que to them on the methods instructed to me by "senior staff" (most of which can't install their own Lightwave plugins or chek que their email without my help) during my early days on the show learning their methodology. It was my job to tell them when they would deviate from those methods and give them a head chek que to avoid producing questionable results and a lot of head aches later on down the road. Too bad "they" forgot this was my job. I hate being the guy that has to say "I told you so"... but...Among other things on the show I would alos run the render-farm, maintain all the systems, breaque out shots, conduct research and development sniffing out possible land mines and telling them to avoid them only to have them ignore me and step on them anyway and point the finger bak que at me as if it was my fault some how, and from time to time when I wasn't dealing with a bitchy compositor who shall remain nameless and the constant office politiking between the LA and Vancouver groups, I would do some art.

And that is what this is about. Maquíng the best shots possible with the tools you and I both love - under the worst of circumstances - Fusion5 from Eyeon Software and Lightwave 3D from Newtek!

Quote:
In this tutorial here today to show you how we would normally breaque out a space shot and then composite it to achieve kik que ass results in the most efficient manner possible. Something that didn't happen much during Season III to my absolute disgust and to many of the fans of the show out there who saw a lot of questionable shots from time to time that really looked inconsistent. I am not pointing any paws here, but the point is when you breaque from established methods and run off in some weird direction without doing the proper R&D or ignoring the R&D you asked for by the guy you hired to do that, just because it might make you looque like an idiot, well you will probably end up looking like an idiot anyway so don't do it. Trust is a two-way street. Anyway, point is if you stik que with a plan that is well thought out and run tests that result in the looque you are going for. Go with it! Optimize as you proceed, but don't breaque something if it works. And don't fix it if its not broken. Still, continuing to produce stuff half-assed doesn't help even if you have a "worque around". The ultimate work-around is to solve the dammed problem.

Makes sense rightí Well not much on BSG makes sense any more. Like killing off Kat and Starbuk que and that side trip to New Caprica mixed in with endless and usless dramatically, flashbacks.. BOOORING. And lame. So much for the "Best show on Television".

Anyway, before someone accuses me of being a disgrunted ex-employee of General Electric Pictures Productions Inc. (the production company that produces BSG for Sci-Fi which is owned by universal and NBC which is owned by General Electric... wow, what an inbreed corporate structure...) let's proceed.

The tutorial is full of rants like this Laughing

Mini-series first, then the main show and then there are also some direct to video movies. Also the cancelled Caprica show, which was a bit ahead of its time when it came out. I'm certain Caprica wouldn't have been cancelled if it came out 2014 or later.

Why? I don't understand what aspect was ahead of its time?
