I do not know if that is a valid criteria for recognition of talent, but if you say so.

No, but it is a valid criteria for someone to hate Tom Cruise, such as yourself.

I'd be delighted to:

Gary Oldman
Al Pacino
David Warner (Though he's a much better voice than stage actor)
Marlon Brando
Ian McKellen
Brian Blessed
Derek Jacobi
Mickey Rourke
Rutger Hauer

Rutger Hauer almost always plays the same person, some twat out to kill people.

So you don't hate Tom Cruise, but you do want to eat banana's with Oldman?
Shocked

Yes, he does tend to play the bad guys... but there's a lot of difference between them. Look for instance in Blind Fury, vs. the character he plays in "The Hitchiker" - and the classical role in Bladerunner.

He isn't as versatile as Gary Oldman - but he's a bit like Jack Nicholson in that his bad guys have a different depth.

---

I wouldn't mind sitting down with Gary Oldman, and if he had the bad taste to eat bananas, then fine! I'd let him!

Their teachings and structures are just dangerous Bullsh*t!

Cruise is an uneducated/brainwashed guy who's on promotion for his new SF-flick.
Incidently he shows how strong you can get if you are "clear" (the squirt-affair)

When i saw how he dealt with the "Waterguy", my first thought was: STAGED!!!
btw. ...he can't act !!!

I thought your post was quite interesting, until you said: "btw. ...he can't act !!!", and realised you're obviously an idiot.

I don't know anyone who can fault his acting.

of course you don't know know me!
i can only remember two movies where he was okay...
1. Magnolia
2. Eyes Wide Shut
... and he was not so bad in his new one.

I never understood the Cruise-Hype since the days of Rainman and Born on the Fourth of July.

...and no, i don't hate him! I just feel sorry for the people who like him Very Happy

Could someone explain to me what the hell Scientology is about?
I know it was started some Hubbard guy who was a science fiction author in the 50's or something, but thats it.

Sounds to me like modern Satanism
For those who dont know, Satanism was started by Anton Szandor Levay in 1967 - he wrote The Satanic Bible and founded the Church of Satan
Funny, since the guy was a known chem head (acid was his drug of choice) and he was a crime scene photographer...a crackpot to say the least?....

hehe, nice 'unbiased' opening line, "The Church of Scientology is a vicious and dangerous cult that masquerades as a religion," not!

To me, the whole so called brainwashing approach to get ppl to donate money is just a transparent, clear cut version of what other "churches" do.

It's not that I'm pro-Scientology, but if I was to rip into it, I'd at least remember to rip into all other religions too. Fair is fair.

PS. & oh yeah, pls answer AM's question fisk. Would u have a nibble on Gary Oldman's banana?? Smile

So to say something bad about a crappy cult you have to say crap about others? I thought the theme was scientology not relgion in general. That is like saying, dont punish only me, punish the others as well. One at the time : )

You are right of course.
As long as you are aware of the bullshit that all Religions contain, there is nothing stopping you from focusing on a particular aspect that you take a dislike to most. But without this awareness of the overall potential 'bloodsucking' nature of all religions, then you become a hypocrite.

And yes, it is necessary to bring up other Religions as this thread is about the quirkiness of Scientology (& Tom Cruise, I think) so one must make comparisons to other cults/religions to find where Scientology stands. I find that it lies within the general pool of crap along with all other Religions/cults and therefore to poke fun at it is to poke fun at all the others.

P.T. Anderson exploided Cruise, but Tommyboy didn't realized it.
He played an Auditor who is highly decompensated,
just like real life! Shocked
The interview on the Today-show looks like a flashback of the Magnolia-Interview scene. Razz

We should rename this thread to Cruise Control Very Happy

Thanks man for the link

I cant believe that they actually call themselves a religion that uses the scientific method? isnt that a contradiction?
I swear, those ppl are fuckin looney

not to mention cruise's girl, Katie holmes, now has a Scientology "handler" to "guide" her in day to day life

There's a perfect example of wasting money.....

OMG ..what a tread. From scientology to a degree pissing contest. I dont care what religon turns your crank. They are all based on beleifs and how you feel (Personaly). Not one of you can say Scientology is for hacks, nor can anyone say that christianity is for hacks. Its all about beliefs. Many people are easyer to pursuade into beleveing. Many people need to beleve in these religions, its what holds there simple exsistance together. Its very easy to say well i have a degree in this so i think there hacks. I CALL BS. Sure your education gave you alot of valuable knoledge and insites, but to think you are a sounding figure on the subject of religion is complete nonsense.

Religion is not about proof, becasue if it was...um..they wouldnt be many religions. Its about faith.

I for one dislike most religions, i feel there for the week minded. I also dislike tom cruse(Hes an OK actor, but a shitty humanbeing). If anyone thinks they can judge people, it shouldnt be a middle aged man with 2 failed marrages, kids, and is running around with a 20 year old who act like she drugged out of her mind(The drug of love..lmao).

Scientology may be total BS (probably is) but there really in no %100 proof its fake. There is no %100 proof that Jediism is fake. (Common sense may say otherwise, but im speaking about Facts, Black and white)

I for one (PLease no flaming) think many degrees are nonsense, People think there something special becasue they went to school. I have a degree, but i donot feel i can be little others with merly self study or life experience. I read and try and take every side into perspective, which is hard becasue i am very Biased (School does that too you).

That's probobly because your degree is a joke. What's a degree anyway? People say - I study history (or arts, or languages), and that makes me smarter than everyone, because i know something they don't. What a crock! Only way to be smarter than someone is with realtime processing. So only very few degrees make your worth.

EDIT : lol @ "be little others"

Yeah but some are more corrupt and shady than others...like ones where some fat white guy who prolly has a drinking problem proclaims he has all the answer's...but only if u buy his books, pay for his seminars, donate to his "church"

Im in the wrong field when it comes to working
I should make up a religion and market it

Not a religion, many. You will always find some stupid fucks signing up. I guess it is a lame attempt to state as I am bad, and thereare other bad people, I should not be called bad. And isnt it lovely. It is more important now to state something that cant be proven wrong than stating something you can prove to be correct.

um ok? Rolling Eyes

More insight? How's that? Who said I didn't attend to college? I just thought your remarks were quite "weird".

Sociologist, "Sociology is the study of the social lives of humans, groups, and societies, sometimes defined as the study of social interactions"

I see, but I still can't understand your comment "I can say it because I'm a qualified Sociologist. Christanity is followed by millions, yet Scientology is followed by a few fans of L Ron Hubbard."
