For the first two hours I was not impressed at all, but once you start getting some of those new powers/mechanics.... it's quite addictive Very Happy

This was obviously captured on PC and not Switch.
Hopefully it will look this good on a future Nintendo console!

Edit: Flurdeh confirms it was filmed on Switch! Shocked

Quote:
I actually filmed it on the switch! The 1440p/60 is because I spent a lot of time upscaling it properly and getting frames added.

Anyone else still playing?

Been playing for weeks via Yuzu. Still feels like I've barely scratched the surface.

Well no cuz I want to finish BOTW first. BOTW has been average for me so far. Not great, not terrible, okish. I assume this is more of the same. Btw, is it playable from start to finish via yuzu ?

I assume so, I must have 50-60hrs on it so far and have been to loads of places. Only 1 random crash, but I see they fixed the issue that was causing it.

BOTW would be hard to go back to after this. The tools in BOTW compared to the freedom in this would feel a bit lacking

I'm playing on my Switch since launch, similar feelings. 50 hours in I've only seen 20% of the game world, doing all available sidequests first before I move on. Very impressed so far.

Only two gripes for me:

1. American voice actors. Hate it. Takes me so far from the world of Zelda. Especially that little punk kid bird. British, Arabic, South African, Irish, Scottish - I would rather anything than American accents in a Zelda game.

2. Not being able to switch gear sets. Did I miss this, or is it still not an option after BOTW? Can't find anything online. There's a few lines that intersect near the desert and snow, and constantly changing individual pieces of gear via the inventory is a pain in the ass when exploring

The rest is brilliant. Once you get that autobuilder power, world traversal becomes a whole lot more enjoyable

No set preset saving, but when you organize the sets it's quick to change.

Piggyback doesn't issue PDFs for their guides (they know better Very Happy) and the Kindle version offered by Amazon is DRM'd from the get-go.
In short, good luck ! Razz (Sorry not to be of much help)

Think the physical only released today so there might be hope for you yet? (Maybe that was only the hardback though and the non-collectors edition has been out sooner).

quick performance question:

im on a 5600x/3070 and went with this guide:
https://github.com/HolographicWings/TOTK-Mods-collection/blob/main/SETUP.md#detailed-setup-1

now i just descended to hyrule and made it to lookout landing and the game is struggling to even hold the 50fps mark. more like 45 with dips into the 30s region.

is this to be expected? or am i doing something wrong? tried different settings/mods but no dice.

if this is to be expected i suppose the best course of action would be to just limit fps to 30-40 and deal with it? those severe frame drops are worse from a gameplay perspective imo

be sure to use Yuzu and not Ryujinx. Ryujinx might be more accurate and have less bugs, but it's performance is crap in comparison. Most issues i had with Yuzu and this game is likely now fixed though

as i said i went with the guide i posted which seems to be kind of the "reference guide"

again there are no issues per se. no bugs/glitches anything. just the framerate keeps dropping into the 40s , sometimes 30s , which makes for a pretty annoying experience

but from what i read nobody is really getting stable 60 so this might just be normal and limiting fps somewhere closer to native switch refresh rate might be the best bet

:edit
just found this. so it seems performance is as expected for my hardware

Yeah, seems like it'll need some time before you can achieve a fully steady 60FPs on our trusty 5600x/3070 combo Very Happy

Updates for emulators can be very, very substantial. Don't be surprised to see 25% performance increases and there might be several.

Nah, no struggles here. I've unlocked every area above ground and under it. The only time it went crazy for some reason was when the sandstorm disappeared in the Gerudo area, but it was for maybe ~30 seconds. 60 frames constant otherwise

That's with a 4080 / 13700k / 64GB / 1440p

However, my 3080 / 7900x / 32GB / 1440p work PC can't maintain 60

is it possible to do texture mods for these games, still?

I remember doing a small one (for myself) for Xenoblade Chronicles. Is it a thing / a community around texture mods?

i don't use emulators nearly enough to know much about the scene or anything surrounding these games for modding.

edit: never mind i guess. i googled nexus zelda and i see nexus mods have pages for them Smile
